Which of these guys would make the best pope?

Dubov Gambit club, do we all know the best move here? @hanschut.bsky.social @nvasquez.bsky.social

Get yourself to New York City and see After Endgame, a one-man comedy/storytelling show about chess and an incredible true story of a chess teaching business and its investors.

A school I ran by this morning. Could be an omen for today’s games.

I learned from the GM’s teammate that he spent an hour and a half prepping for me before our game. This also happened the first time I played a GM. I should add “two-time GM prep subject” to my bio.

From my round 4 game. I spent 10 minutes calculating Nxe4 and decided against it. Think I made the right decision?

It’s kinda crowded here

My round 4 opponent is 998 points lower rated than my round 3 opponent.

I lost, but it was close for a while. This was my last chance - I had to let the h pawn go and then seek counterplay (either Rd2 Rxh2 Rgd1 or play a waiting move and respond to Rxh2 with Rd8). I played Rh1 and couldn’t hold it.

I am announcing my retirement from the Nimzo French. It was fun while it lasted, but unpleasant for white if black keeps their king in the center, as my lower-rated opponent did for a while yesterday. (Luckily he blundered later and I won)

My team got a win in round 1 and an upset draw in round 2 and now I have my second-ever game against a GM (I'm 0/1).

If your team is doing well, you play in the ballroom. If not, you get relegated.
