Damn I haven’t listened to this in a while. Fun as hell! “While No One Was Looking - Toasting 20 Years of Bloodshot Records”

Is there a more quintessential early 2000s indie rock song than Broken Social Scene’s Anthem for a 17 Year Old Girl? If you were 17 when that song came out, you’d be creeping up towards 40 now…

There’s not a lot of hills I’d bother to die on, but I’ll fucking fight anyone who says Goodness by The Hotelier is not one of the best albums of the last 10 years.

Wife, dog, and I went to Providence Canyon for the first time yesterday. That place is awesome. We have one more Georgia state park to visit - Cloudland Canyon - and then we’ll have been to all of them. 👊

Some sunday morning “sad dad” rock before heading out for a hike in the cold/wet!

Badass photo on the inside of The National’s new live record, Rome:

I can’t get over how good Cameron Winter’s Heavy Metal is. Been listening to it all week, and times when I’m not, I want to be.

Winding down the weekend with summerteeth by @wilcohq.bsky.social. Brilliant and possibly magical. I swear there are new sounds that pop up in the songs every time I return to it.

We had a rare snowstorm in ATL on Friday and I just watched a couple teens throw icy snowballs across the street at a passing cargo train and cheer when they hit it. Harmless old school mischief. Well done, youngsters.

One of my annoying brain traits is to notice when the usage of word suddenly spikes in frequency. OR it may be that I’ve simply started focusing on that word for some unclear reason and just think it’s being used more. Either way, my current obsession is “ultimately.”

Just finished reading The Absinthe Forger by @evanrail.bsky.social. Enjoyed the hell out of it. A great journey through the history of absinthe and today’s modern distillers, and an investigative deep dive into the good and bad of absinthe collector culture. Really fun, interesting read. Well done.

Visited Old Town Record Store in Lucerne, Switzerland and found a copy of Max Richter’s The Blue Notebook. Love this album and haven’t been able to find it in my local stores. Yeah!

Having a Guinness in an English Pub in Switzerland. #mashup

Visiting family in Switzerland and drinking through the beer selection from the local grocery store. Currently putting down the interesting Appenzeller Gluhbier.

The original Budweiser

Hey book folks! My old buddy Leo Leone just published his book of poetry, On Death. It’s brilliant stuff. “Thirty-one poems about moral ambiguity, guts, revenge, burden, connection, funeral etiquette, remorse, suicide, homes, cars, boats & growing up” www.barnesandnoble.com/w/of-death-l...

The reason the bars are open so early at the airport is because drinking is the only way to cope with all the loud open mouth yawners.

Last night I was drinking an absinthe while listening to The Cure’s new album and opening up a gift which was a skull-shaped incense burner. Time to buy some eye liner because apparently I’m goth as fuck.

20 years ago I flew out to CA to spend Christmas with my brothers. None of us were married yet and I was recently single and depressed. We got drunk in the kitchen and my brother put me to bed and turned on some music for me. I fell asleep to “Last Christmas” by Wham! and have loved that song since.

I used to think buying a tote bag from a band’s merch table seemed kinda silly, but now that I have a couple bags from concerts I loved, I get stoked every time I pull them out at the grocery store. $20 to be stoked once a week for years is a great deal.

It’d be awesome if all technology was the same except we never invented the TV remote control and you still had to get up off the couch and use a dial to scroll through Netflix.

Man I listened to an immense amount of Brian Eno this year.

Excited to find this absinthe from Greenway Distillers in my local package store! Haven’t tried this one yet!

I feel like Crash Test Dummies’ “God Shuffled His Feet” deserves far more accolades as a great 90s album. I recommend a revisit if you remember this band solely as the baritone dude who sang “Mmm mmm mmm.” It’s a clever treasure that holds up after 30 years.

I need to have music playing in the house at all times, and my wife is very patient with it. I stick with mellow stuff when we’re both here. She’s out of town, so my dog and I will be revisiting some loud, fast tunes from the 90/00s. Starting with Against Me!’s “Searching for a Former Clarity”.

A chilly Saturday morning, listening to Jake Xerxes Fussell’s “When I’m Called” with the dog. A really wonderful album.

Since we’re talking books, here’s me and my book when I released it (self published) a few years ago.

Hi! I made an account over here a few months ago and forgot about it. Came back for a quick look and saw my timeline full of people sharing pics of their bookcases! That rules!
