Lots of questions about Kobo, #kobowritinglife and how, when and why we are using AI. Putting "AI" in the same sentence as "authors", "books" or "publishers" makes a lot of alarm bells go off, and for good reason. 1/

Some Metric music for an alliterative #MusicMonday youtu.be/LqldwoDXHKg?...

Really interesting, useful, and anger-inducing thread about the Unbound/Boundless situation.

Duck, duck, moose. Edmontosaurus Ink and gouache on Fabriano Medioevalis, 132 Γ— 85 mm. I think I botched the birds somewhat. πŸ™ˆ It's a hot day and both I and the ink (because it dries out on the brush too soon) were fighting. This piece will be available at auction next week.

In lieu of a mermay mermaid, here's an older commission that at least has some water in it. Commissioned by author Mark Runte. ArtByJon

That mermay piece I've been working on isn't going to be finished in May! Anyone got any good June-related play-on-words so I can post it next month?

Here's the original art, it was designed to work as one print, or as bookmarks each showing the a different stage as the crew build the spaceship together.

Happy #worldparrotday Today was started to raise awareness of illegal trade and habitat destruction that these beautiful animals are facing in the wild. #parrot #parrots #parrotcharacterdesign #Birdlovers #Birdsofinstagram #macaw #illustration #parrotillustration #kidlit #kidlitart

You know what I haven't painted in a long time: a scary clown! This one is from years ago. If no one commissions one (and, seemingly, they aren't in demand), I might have to just paint one for fun as a personal project. ArtByJon

Academia in 2025: For weeks I’ve been working through botched copy-edits of my monograph, outsourced by the publisher to a company I’d never heard of, until it finally dawned on me the terrible job might be AI. A quick search confirmed the company recently launched new AI software, which now means..

Reminder: Commissions open! -3 spots available- Please reach out through e-mail only: [email protected] Here's the price sheet (and some example of past pieces in the next post) RTs are always welcome πŸ’–

Here's the Margin Calls illustration in full. A bunch of the edge details get cropped off in the published cover. #art #shadowrun #cyberpunk #ttrpg #illustration

While I like Powderfinger, I've always had a soft spot for Bernard Fanning's solo album Tea & Sympathy. There are a lot of great tracks on this album. #MusicMonday youtu.be/raxsAFOxRTE?...

Reposting one of my favourites among the works I was commissioned. :) Cover for Blood Price, by the lovely @thoughtsstained.bsky.social

Isn't nature brilliant! I found this bee orchid growing on a verge between a service road and a petrol station forecourt. A little bit of beauty in between boring functionality. The second one was on the other side of a nearby car park.

My plans for a major retail emporium are being threatend by wholesalers who won't let me steal the stock.

Shocked, I tell you. Shocked.

I'm just finishing a set of covers for an author who gave me a very loose rein and wanted something different and unusual, not necessarily commercial! It has been a fun process and I'm really interested to see how they are received.

SWORDS AND ICE MAGIC (1977) Acrylic on Illustration Board - 24” x 16” This cover was for the sixth book in a series by Fritz Leiber featuring the beloved characters Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser. 1/4

"What big teeth you've got!" Check out the animated trailer for The Big Bad Wolf Murder, a fairytale whodunnit coming this September. Action-packed noir with bite, for readers aged 7+. Read the first chapter and pre-order here: www.pgbellwriter.com/the-big-bad-... #KidLit #KidLitUK

Hi everyone, just a reminder that This Saturday will be the official opening of the exhibition "Come as you are" which will feature my photography work, if you live or are around South Yorkshire between May and August be sure to check it out. It's my first ever gallery feature πŸ₯³

One of the earliest football paintings in the world, Thomas MM Hemy's "Sunderland v. Aston Villa 1895", also titled "A Corner Kick", depicts a match between the two most successful English teams of the decade. The venue is the Newcastle Road ground in Sunderland, and the game finished 4-4.

The Augment magazine illustration in full! I got to start off with my own basic concepts for this, which was a rare treat, then the art directors made tweaks to make it better fit the Shadowrun universe and the issue's contents. #ttrpg #artpost #art #illustration #cyberpunk

It's tomorrow! @waterstoneskids.bsky.social will reveal the UK cover of The Big Bad Wolf Murder at 2pm GMT with an animated trailer. And if you want a first look at the US cover, plus an interview with my US illustrator Jordan Kinkaid... 1/2 #KidLit #KidLitUK

Winding the clock back for this one. 2002! That's quite a long time ago now. #MusicMonday youtu.be/wLaDksDOcE4?...

'Smallville' All shot practically using real figures, lighting and miniature sets. Had this idea whilst setting up the Andor shot I posted last week using the broom heads so rejigged a few elements to create this shot. #superman #miniatures #photography

HEY ALL FOLLOWING THESE PAGES This is the SAME dude, charging folks. THIS IS NOT MEEEEEE 😑😑😑 ✨ I WOULD NEVER CHARGE FOR INDIE PROMO ✨ Please block these. Please do not pay for this. Please do NOT think this dude is me. He’s got 20+ websites and a Writer’s Beware article on him. πŸ“šπŸ’™

Hello Bluesky! We're a new micropress based in Tyne & Wear, specialising in strange and literary fantasy, horror and sci-fi. We're planning to publish anthologies, short fiction collections, and novellas, with a focus on writers in the North of England.

Couple things. How the author chooses to describe (or not) the setting informs the reader of tone, backstory, even character development. It's not just there to make the word count. 1/

Cool name, cool headgear, cool dinosaur. Guanlong wucaii, the tyrannosauroid from China. A newly finished illustration. #SciArt

A woodland glade. Sometimes it's good to get out into nature and away from the drawing board.

I was recently reminded of this cover work from a few years ago, created for a poetry collection by Kristina Brooke Daniele. It's a little different from most of my covers, but it's good to try new things from time-to-time. BookCoversByJon
