Not saying i'm tired on this train journey back home, but I just decided to put off proofreading the *early medieval laws* in favour of secondary literature... (under other circumstances this could possibly indicate a cry for help/rescue 😜, but I'm sure the law will still be there tomorrow...)

For some, TTRPGs and larps are hobbyist phases that transition into hiking, bird-watching, and other "normal" adult pastimes. For me, I have never been able to silence the inner child that wants to "play pretend" with others. It is a calling, something beyond any specific medium.

I've been channeling some of my love of teaching into TTRPGkids, and I hope the TTRPG x EDU resources here can help educators with the already amazing work they're doing. Check out some of my posts for tips & tricks, lesson ideas, educator interviews, and more! www.ttrpgkids.com/category/pos...

Hello @graemeyward.bsky.social ! Great to see you on here 😊 Hope you are keeping well 🤗

Looks like there's a two year postdoc going in Dublin for a legal historian (and/or historian of law? books?) in Medieval Irish Law on Prof. Fangzhe Qiu's "Fluid texts and scholars’ digests: (re)production of law in medieval Ireland" project, #medievalsky!! www.findapostdoc.com/search/Job-D...

Coming this July! www.brepols.net/products/IS-...

Oh boy I just thought of a fun question for the GMs, writers, and worldbuilders; What are your thoughts on "material weaknesses"? As in, say, weaknesses to silver, cold iron, stuff like that. Do you like the idea of think it's overdone? #TTRPG

A magnificent hidden treasure of Welsh legal history– the Medieval Laws of Hywel Dda

Hello #MedievalSky Does anybody have easy access to Theodore Rivers, Trans. (1987) "Laws of the Salian and Ripuarian Franks", ...and, if yes, could you send me photos of Titles §55 and §88 from the Ripuarian laws (i.e. with the laws on despoiling dead bodies/graves)? Many thanks!!

Well, that's joining the old wish list :)

While i actually enjoy saying the somewhat laboured TTRPG, I think I prefer this idea to "titterpigs" (and... ummm... "crapperpigs" ?) (And it's infinitely better than just saying "trpg", which always feels short-changed to me)

Feels like it's being a bit of a medieval gaming afternoon for me: 🎲 spent a couple of hours working on my tabletop gaming the medieval past collection (finally) 🎲 started admining a medieval TTRPG discussion group in the imafo (finally) 🎲 #MAMG call for papers dropped Pretty good day!

Regionalities, huh?! Well, this time I've got the paper plan in place before I saw the call. Finally time to start on the "lawscape" piece I've been mulling¹ ¹ putting off 😉

We're delighted to open the Call for Papers for the sixth Middle Ages in Modern Games Asynchronous Conference: Globalities and Regionalities (3-6 June 2025). The themes are 'Globalities' and 'Regionalities' with deadline 3 May. Details below and here: middleagesinmoderngames.net/announcement...

Slowly but surely, a syllabus begins to form

I had the wonderful opportunity to chat with @friede.bsky.social about her research into TTRPG APs, the courses she's teaching on tabletop games, how she has used The Quiet Year with a gaggle of 7-8 year olds, and more! Check it out on TTRPGkids and thank you Dr. Friedman! tinyurl.com/53fjruz8

@pilgrimteresa.bsky.social hello!!! Apologies i never emailed you after the IMC, i somehow managed to lose your email address... (but enough of excuses) I hope you are well :)

We are four scholars whose work in some form deals with corporeality and being in the premodern period (early #medieval to #earlymodern). We are unhinged about our work. Check us out and feel free to email us details about your events and CFPs for our events page. #AcademicSky bodiesandbeing.com

I'm so tired. It's been 11 years and the racism is still there and goddamn I'm tired of social media platforming the views of regressive reactionaries like they're valid or even a majority POV. #TTRPG pocgamer.com/archives/3287

Hi History Educators. Some would be delighted to know a book on using historical video games in history education exists, has existed for 13 years, now 2nd edition. Save money; ask the library to get it! (amplifications appreciated; I think a lot of interested folk just don't know)

Call for Papers: #QueerAnalogGameStudies Special Issue @analoggamestudies.bsky.social “Analog games are here…but are they queer? What’s queer about analog games? What does it mean to queer tabletop, board games, or LARP? How might analog games be queered.” Essays due April 7, 2025

Mind wandering idly as i stare out the bus window, I was trying to figure out a shelfmark, where they'd not given the city but had given an abbreviation of the archive "BNL" (British National Library? Nope, I thought)... Then, realised it was letters on the registration plate of a car passing us. 🤣

OMG, mysteries can be such a pain, right? And so much advice people give and the systems they suggest don't seem to help. So here's my attempt to help de-mystify mysteries and give you the tools to make it easier! thoughtpunks.com/han... #TTRPG #Blog
