Tonight we had our Lorcana book club. We read The House in the Cerulean Sea & everyone liked it. Afterwards we made Lorcana card bookmarks which was fun & I think the turned out great! Our next read is The Hike by Drew Magary.

I had book club tonight & pretty much everyone hated the book. I liked it but I was the few (The Cover of Snow). Then I walked over to my Lorcana league which was one of the smallest I’ve seen. I was able to play a group game (3 people) & I won! They didn’t have enough with my 2 Agrabahs out.

Finished The House in the Cerulean Sea & it was good. It felt similar to what the environment is right now. In the story people are afraid of these magical children even though they’ve never done any harm to the villagers. The prejudices are so high that they don’t interact with the children. There

Watching Lost again & Sawyer is reading Watership Down. A book I remember reading & enjoying it. Maybe one of these days I’ll reread it. I heard the movie/TV series is good too.

"Jane Austen's Bookshelf" spotlights eight women writers, largely lost to history, who influenced the English novelist.

“(Helen said) …’And apparently that includes cleaning up after men throwing their snits. Honestly. For all their bluster, I’ve noticed that men melt so very easily. Little snowflakes, they are.” -The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune

I didn’t love The Dressmaker by Kate Alcott but I did find it interesting about how people started to go after the survivors. For me, it’s hard to be so harsh since I wasn’t there & the event was so traumatic. The whole event was chaotic & I think people were in survivor mode.

“Arthur arched an eyebrow. ‘It’s not about need, Linus. That’s not what gift giving is for. It’s about the joy that someone is thinking of you.’” - The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune I like to give gifts to friends & family. I find something that I think you’ll like then I’ll buy it.

On Monday night at The Poison Pen, James Rollins was presenting his 3rd book of the Moonfall series. I was excited to meet him. I thought this was the last book but there is 1 more before it concludes. They also had the illustrator that did the maps in the book. She signed the book as well.

You always do a test run or two to make sure you have enough ink on the texts & everything is spelled right before doing the final print.

Last Saturday we went to a print workshop & I throughly enjoyed it! I debated over the saying I wanted to print but wanted something about books. Picture of the shop, different printing machines & my saying all ready to print.

We went to Tuesday night Lorcana & played 4 rounds with our friend. It was the 2nd time she came to our league. I actually won the last game! I also managed to somehow win a Tinkerbell lore counter. I was excited!! @colleenphelan.bsky.social thanks for nerding out with us.

Antique & thrift store finds part 2. I was very excited about finding tulips!! (Pictured in part 1. They’re the red ones)

Antique & thrift store finds part 1.

I was very excited to find this hardcover book of the Sir John Fielding Mystery series. I don’t have all of them & I need to replace 3 of the softcover with the hardcover books. Since I went on Sunday, it was half off.

This weekend was filled with stuff! The most important was the big used book fair I went to. This year I spent the most money. I got books for my family & Cussler books for a friend. Most of them are for me & I did end up getting duplicates. 38 books for around $95.

I found a divided bowl for $7.50. It made me happy. I love glass pieces! It’s made in France.

Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits mix for the win!! They are so good & they do taste like the ones they serve.

“‘…You know one of the best things? Women gathering, marching, doing anything together makes a lot of men go crazy. They yell and scream and taunt and shake their fists. You know why? They’re scared. They’re scared we’ll actually gain power and force them to change.’” -The Dressmaker by Kate Alcott

Cover of Snow made the background of the story pair with what the town was unrelenting & inhospitable to outsiders. The way she described the cold made me wonder how anyone can live there during the winter.

Finished Cover of Snow by Jenny Milchman & I really liked it. It was fast paced & kept me interested. I do want to know what happened to the dog, Weekend. I hope he ended up in a loving home because he was such a good dog.

It seems like a small thing but all these will add up! bsky.app/profile/npr....

The act of banning a book will often be referred to as an appropriate “removal” or “withdrawal” of material. This has a far less threatening ring to it than “censorship”. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

I saw this & just starting laughing! It’s been hard seeing all the things going on in government but this was a good moment.

I couldn’t sleep last night so I read more of Every Fifteen Minutes which finally started to pick up because the main character’s like is imploding. It’s like anything you can think of major in a career/life is happening. I’m about halfway through so hopefully it’ll go quickly.

Watching Gypsy & I always forget how terrible the mom is in the movie. She was the dance mom before the reality show. Gypsy Rose Lee wrote 2 books-The G-String Murders & Mother Finds a Body. The 1st book was made into a movie starring Barbara Stanwyck called Lady of Burlesque.

A small bowl of dehydrated marshmallows to snack on. I’m a grown up, don’t judge.

Watching a new episode of Doc & it is a very My Sister’s Keeper vibe. A younger brother having to donate to help his older brother keep living.

Reading Every Fifteen Minutes by Lisa Scottoline & I like the chapters from (I’m assuming) the killers perspective. Right now I’m a bit bored but hopefully it’ll start picking up. This is a book for one of my book club.

Reading about the Titanic, “…706 survivors out of some 2,223 people. Sixty percent of the first-class passengers survived, most of them women. No surprise there. And only twenty-five percent of those in steerage.” -The Dressmaker by Kate Alcott So many lives lost & trauma for the survivors & family.

I also found & finished watching The Marlow Murder Club which I enjoyed. I’ll have to check out the book. It’d be nice to go to England one day when it’s more sunny. I love all the shots of the river. I want to glide down a river! At the end they had a picnic on the boat.

I’ve not been well these last few days so I’ve been binge watching a couple of shows. I finished the 2nd season of Silo & I’m thinking that it’s all a government experiment. Won’t know until season 3 comes. Started watching Astrid season 4. I just love that show.

“It served as a reminder that even in the darkest times, knowledge found a way to persist.” -The Cradle of Ice by James Rollins

Who’s cold? Not @psypher1000.lorcana.community!

Being off allergy medicine to have your blood drawn & your back pricked to see what your allergic to is pure misery. I feel like I’m sick-throat sore, stuffy nose & coughing. I just want to get this over with!

I got my On Tyranny by Timothy Snyder through the mail today. It was only 1¢ plus shipping & handling with a promise to pass the book on to someone else. Thanks Bobzbay Books in Bloomington, IL for the book!
