Safe systems and design to be proud of for sustainable transport options is a what we need. www.theguardian.com/global-devel...

🚲 Do you swap short trips for cycling? Share your top tips! Around 60% of UK car journeys are under 8km—distances easily cyclable. In Greater Manchester alone, 250 million trips a year are under 1.6km! Not sure where to start? cyclinguk.org/swap-short-journeys

What would a TV ad promoting alternatives to driving look like? What if people who love cycling and progressive transportation reclaimed ideas like freedom, independence and even patriotism? We decided to give it a shot. Check out our new video, "America, It's Just Like Riding a Bike."

More of these please! Especially up this end #Wrexham #Flintshire

When you did the job properly the first time 👇

So, Vehicular Cycling What is it, and why do you need to know about it? It's key to understanding why roads are like they are, how to survive on them, and why we need change Here's a thread I'm preserving from Twitter 🧵

Those bikes sitting in sheds are a depreciating opportunity to unlock Active Travel. Every year the cycle schemes put out some PR about cost being a barrier to cycling but it’s really not. If there’s not a bike in your shed, you can find a second hand one for less than a Saturday night out.

Resolutions fizzled out? Turn the wheels instead! Cycling saves money, boosts fitness, and feels great—all year round. 💨 Move more 💰 Spend less 🌎 Help the planet 😊 Ride happy Get rolling at cyclinguk.org/how-to-cycle-more

71% of all trips are <5 miles. 71% Plug your address in here to see where 30 mins of cycling can take you and then maybe dust off that bike in the shed? app.traveltime.com

Two questions: Where might one get one of these scraper mini-tractors and hypothetically would one get in trouble if one were to hypothetically use it to hypothetically clear some pavements and cycle paths of 20 years of overgrowth?

I hope someone is collecting and analysing data during this. Totally against the prevailing view that town centres should be for people not cars… (This is Bridgend btw in case you didn’t want to fall for the click bait. )

Had to weave around so many roadworks signs placed on pavement/shared paths yesterday. I wonder if this is #motonormativity or something else? “Signage for cyclists should be placed on cycle lanes” / “signage for drivers should be placed in the road”

Although this is an England only response there are some relevant messages for inclusive transport in Wales too. 👇

A justified concern I would say given there’s been no reason given for the 50% increases that are due to be agreed next week (with about 4 days to consider all the consultation responses before publishing the recommendations).

This episode is great, and @waterslee.bsky.social is spot-on with what he says about shifting the conversation from the rare "move a bag of cement" trips to the enormous number of short everyday trips that ARE amenable to mode shift
