My kids have their favorite blankies; soft and comforting little things they love to snuggle down into. Watching men carry their dead kids out of the rubble in Gaza, swaddled in their blankies... Being horrified by this is not antisemitism. We have to save these families.

71 years ago, the Supreme Court ruled that segregation in public schools was unconstitutional. After generations of struggle and sacrifice, the supreme law of the land finally bent toward hard-won justice.

The plantation burning reminds me of when the residential school burnt down in Shubenacadie. I was very young. Not understanding why we were all there watching a scary looking building burning. Cars lined up all over both sides of the road. It seemed like the entire rez population (1)

Love this from Pedro Pascal at Cannes: "Fear is the way that they win, so keep telling the stories and expressing yourself and fighting. F*ck the people that try to make you scared and fight back. Don’t let them win"

Animals are just cordless plants

Ooof this sounds bad

Finally, some good news.

Shoutout to Whitney Plantation, who has always BANNED WEDDINGS at their location and allowed the entire facility and its grounds to be an indoor and outdoor museum. It also houses the genealogical records for over 100,000 enslaved people. You can search for your loved ones in its archives.

In celebration, please consider donating to Whitney Plantation; a nonprofit institution dedicated to education about the horrors of slavery. whitneyplantation.org/donate/

Let’s restore a mental health program for farmers and ranchers that is paused due to federal funding cuts. AgWell works in rural Colorado where the suicide rate is double that of the general population. I'll match the next fifty $5 donations here: www.coloradogives.org/story/U85raf

When do we bring everyone home from the gulag for fair trials, then?

Mahmoud Khalil still has not met his newborn baby, because the judge refuses to grant him bail. Having clerked for a federal judge, I know firsthand that public pressure works. Send him a (polite) letter demanding Khalil be set free: Hon. Michael Farbiarz 4th & Cooper Streets Camden, NJ 08101

I don't know what this means, but I'm the one who wrote a fully updated, 624-page hurricane response plan at FEMA that took over 2 years of work and careful coordination among state and federal agencies. He could start by studying that.

Hey y’all! We cant crack $10,000 in donations and we really need your help. We have had to stop the housing relief program for returning mothers due to the loss of 2 grants due to the Trump administration. Anything at all helps. tpfwoman2woman.funraise.org

never let anybody tell u that evil does not exist

A must-read. In answer to the title question, the authors "propose a simple metric: the cost of opposing the government. In democracies, citizens are not punished for peacefully opposing those in power.... Under authoritarianism, by contrast, opposition comes with a price." We're already there.

He's doing it again

I wish I could explain how dehumanizing it can be to be pregnant in the *best* circumstances, when you want to be, and how horrifying it is to be dehumanized to the point of mattering less than a cluster of cells that occupy your uterus. I can't. Pregnant people are PEOPLE.

This is a new level

Marjorie, I know the truth confuses you and facts ain’t your strong suit—so let me break it down real slow: George Floyd didn’t die from drugs. He died because Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for 9 minutes. That’s called murder.

We finally agree.

You bet your ass

I checked. It’s real.

ICE convinced a woman she was being arrested and then threatened to take her baby into custody unless a relative showed up to take her. It was all a ruse to get her mother to leave her house. www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

Today marks the 40th anniversary of the MOVE Bombing in Philadelphia. The United States has always hated Black Americans. ✊🏽🇺🇸
