This administration believes if 95% of them crime in the open, they can achieve herd impunity.

Counterpoint: The real reason the 17th century tulip bubble collapsed was because they didn't put it on the blockchain.

So then no problem if @jeffreygoldberg.bsky.social publishes all the details from the chat?

NEW: The ACLU has filed a sworn declaration from a Venezuelan woman who ICE sought to turn over to El Salvador under the Alien Enemies Act, who declares that "I heard two US government officials talking and they said 'there is an order saying we can’t take off but we already have.'"

Man guys, I really miss the good old days...

The president is insisting he was out of the loop when his underlings were planning a military strike?

Once again, the comedic timing is impeccable.

For those keeping track at home, Skadden was the law firm that guided Musk's acquisition of Twitter.

Even now, it’s clear that many Americans simply cannot wrap their heads around the idea that the United States is not guaranteed to be a great power forever.

United we stand. Divided we fall.

“Musk’s planned visit to a secure room in the Pentagon was called off after The Times published its article on the visit, according to a person with knowledge of the matter” www.nytimes.com/2025/03/21/u...

We used to make memes back in the day. I didn't appreciate just how prescient they were.

“Good foreign policy is invisible—it is routine, boring, and full of everyday interactions that hardly anyone notices but that are essential for preventing bad outcomes.” @jimgoldgeier.bsky.social and @profsaunders.bsky.social argue that Elon Musk and DOGE are putting the United States at risk:

It would be an incredible bit if Boeing just insisted that this plane existed but was just too stealthy to see, and then pocketed the money because the President felt that this scanned

The... uh yeah... WHOO... Bayesian priors would indicate a... PH'NGLUI MGLW'NAFH CTHULHU... a non-zero probability that I... SEIG!!!... I might accidentally tweet this classified briefing to my... R'LYEH WGAH'NAGL FHTAGN... my hundreds of millions of followers, but hey... free speech, amirite?

So why *is* he at the Pentagon this morning then? Or are they just lying liars who lie?

For me, it was 1984. I'll never forget the Marxist propaganda of "Red Dawn," a movie about brave Soviet soldiers fighting ruthless gang of evil American jocks led by Patrick Swayze & Jennifer Grey, who'd later switch sides to try to seduce us with filthy socialist undulations in "Dirty Dancing."

They took an oath to defend the US Constitution. They are not. Bring back the word "oathbreaker" and use it.

Remember when people used to say the warnings about Trump were alarmist? He’s now explicitly saying US citizens who damage private property that’s linked to one of his oligarch cronies will be sent to prisons in El Salvador.

NEW: Judge Boasberg issues a show-cause order (precedes contempt sanctions) on why he shouldn't find that the gov't defied his orders. "In an ex parte pleading delivered shortly after today’s deadline, the Government again evaded its obligations." storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Trump watching this

Republicans are scared of being yelled at and Schumer thinks it's 1993 or something so... yeah.

I know a dude who believes this as gospel truth. Reacts like an amygdala hijack. Where did this originate and who is whipping them into a frenzy and for what purpose?

One of my employees was arrested this week while at the gym, & is now at the ICE detention center in Buffalo. He’s married to a U.S. citizen, has no criminal record, a clean driving record, & a Social Security number with work authorization. Fuck anyone who voted for this.

Strange bedfellows indeed.

Nice to know John's paying at least a little attention.

"Voice of America was the most sought-after radio broadcaster in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam, in many cases, by a considerable margin."

Now that the Republican Party has drifted from unconstitutional to anticonstitutional, it is time for America to start making decisions outside of norms.

In 1798 the Federalists rallied behind the Alien and Sedition Acts--laws designed to punish journalists they deemed unfairly critical and deport immigrants they saw as a threat to the nation. The conservative media of its day built support for these laws by circulating batshit conspiracy theories.

Trump is eliminating Wilson Center, a stellar US foreign policy study establishment. Along with it goes the Kennan Institute - one of the best Russia study institutions. I was fortunate to be a Kennan Fellow in 2017. Such a loss

(AP) — Trump invokes Alien Enemy Act of 1798, assuming wartime authority to speed up mass deportations.

And learn pit etiquette.

This letter appeared in the Bloomsburg PA Press Enterprise this morning. I am assured the writer is who he purports to be, an Air Force veteran.

Two days later, everyone at VOA has reportedly been fired.

Familysearch sent an email detailing what kind of cousins George Washington, Ben Franklin, and Abe Lincoln are to me and I didn't know I could be even angrier about what's being done to America right now.

$4,500,000,000 Business decision.

The fact that these quislings made this vote *while* Trump was threatening people by name, declaring journalism illegal, asking if America is “ready” for death penalty for drug *users*—& praising Schumer for caving…
