I'm so glad someone stuffed it in a bag until it could find its way to you instead of throwing it out 😭 I love that texture, the way texture stands out in mourning textiles due to the absence of other decoration is one of my favorite things about studying it.

My dad will just say something wild like he's already told the story "That was the summer after we moved to ME when I was a kid because our lawn in CT got firebombed...." No, back up and explain?? (his dad was doing positive documentary work about the Black Panthers, IIRC and someone didn't like it)

My father-in-law, who apparently did a lot more than just "aerospace engineering", recently started a story out of the blue with "Yeah, okay, I'm pretty sure I can tell you *parts* of this story now..." and then dropped some WILD dad lore.

I ran a demo for work today and even though I cringed every time I had a long pause or said "um" and I apologized to the table up front for not being a natural performer, I still did a whole 4 hours. Suppose if they hated it they just won't sign up again.

Shit like that is why I have a shitload of anxiety about playing games AND also struggle to convince myself that I could ever GM because I assume other people expect pro-level improv at the table every time.

I collect: community cookbooks (mostly masonic lodge/eastern star chapters), cigarette silks, jet/onyx jewelry (or stuff that looks like it), late 19th/early 20th c. photographs, antique textiles & various bits & bobs pertaining to Oscar Wilde and Sherlock Holmes. I wish I had more old furniture.
