I have it on the authority a brilliant young lady in the fourth grade that when a star twinkles it means it likes you. 🔭

In my capacity as the local planetarium director I hereby declare cargo shorts season officially open in Whatcom County. 🔭

"What are you thinking about?" In time it takes me to enjoy this sip of coffee the neutron star in the center of the Crab Nebula spins completely around about 300 times. 🔭

Note in margin. It's gravity waves, not gravy waves. Gravy waves would be a thing if blackholes were biscuits. 🔭

If the moon was bigger it would have been named Schmearth. 🔭

My favorite laser pointer passed away in the night. Ceremony to be held later. 🔭

Norma is a constellation. The name refers to the right angle thingy a carpenter uses. It was at first named "l'Equerre et la Regle" which also means right angle thingy, but it's an itty bitty constellation and there just isn't enough room on a map for all that. 🔭

The easiest way to use all parts of the buffalo is to just let it be a buffalo.

Old dude rambles on about the stars, today at the planetarium. 🔭

As you approach a blackhole you still follow the same rules that apply to a baseball headed to home plate only there is no hitting it out of the park and the umpire's head touches his feet. 🔭

Teens Take Warning: If you leave articles of clothing in my Jeep I may post pictures of me wearing them.

You can't play chess in a hurricane but you can bob for apples.

About 100 Spitz A2 planetarium projectors were made in 1958 and 1959. This is number 27. I presented with it for 9 yrs. The stars would sometimes blink a few times and go out, but I knew where to slap it and how hard. I bought it at auction and it's now in the Big Bear Lake Planetarium Museum. 🔭

"You can't play with it without getting it on you." ~ my mom (about evil)

In 2014 a History Channel producer called me about being an expert on an episode of Ancient Aliens. After hearing my creative differences they decided I wasn't right for the show. 🔭

You can fool some of the papal some of the time.

I realize I'm pushing 70 but it feels like 70 is pulling.

Gravity says I love you and I need you near me. Meanwhile dark energy says get away, I need my space. I think the universe is working through some stuff. 🔭

Why Pigeons at Rest Are at the Center of Complexity Theory. When pigeons outnumber pigeonholes, some birds must double up. This obvious statement, and its inverse, have deep connections to many areas of math and computer science. www.wired.com/story/how-a-...

Some students are doubtful about my description of the early universe. Perhaps if I wore a fancy robe. 🔭

When the Milky Way and Andromeda combine, will the satellite galaxies in the resulting halo be like the Brady Bunch kids? 🔭

Advance, dear hero, the mighty Sun. You met the Hydra, the battle won. Rise high and bright, as spring is sprung. Do as you May, for April's done.

The dustbin of history is full.

Everybody is below the law.

Excavations reveal there were massive raving hoedowns around early Stonehenge. There were parties, concerts, parades, flea markets, costume competitions possibly, sack races maybe, and definitely a first class food court. There are still some lovely pubs in the nearby villages.

There's a little bird outside my window and it sounds like its smoke alarm needs a new battery. 🦉

"The treasure is only inches away, but the bubbles, the damn bubbles." ~ Fish Tank Scuba Diver

As I talked about ammonia in the atmosphere of Neptune, a child was able to find his way in the dark to the front of the planetarium, tug on my shirt, and let me know that he once had ammonia. Better now though. 🔭

For Easter dinner, I have fashioned some eggs in the manner of the devil.

My students this quarter are frequently challenging me with difficult questions. So that's nice.

Remember, the song goes "Gladly the cross I'd bear" not "cross-eyed bear". It's not about a bear named Gladly with poor eye sight.

Cleaning out my tool chest and recovered this from ages ago.

People have strongly conflicting ideas about the mysterious underpinnings of our reality. Fortunately, we're not all big babies about it.

It sounds like the frogs in our pond enjoy the moon.

New quarter started today. I wonder what my students will teach me this time.

There are wood ducks in the nesting boxes. There are wood ducks in the nesting boxes. 🦉

Constellations are like Bob Dylan songs. They don't always have to make sense.
