Two of my favorite things -- "yes, and" and sticking it to Bezos -- rolled into one!

I made this the other night while procrastinating, mainly because I thought all the posts about the blackout were boring. It feels like there is momentum bringing people together!

I thought "book tour" was an absurdly exaggerated metaphor for inactivity. But noooope I was wrong, it's true and thus just absurd.

Spent a thoroughly enjoying morning working with folks from gustavusadolphus.bsky.social on how to prepare their grads for life in an AI world. Thanks for having us, and look forward to ongoing conversations!

Just spent an enjoyable hour+ with colleagues at SUNY Plattsburgh talking about the productive use of generative AI in our learning spaces. Thanks for inviting me, @geekypedagogy.bsky.social !

Shoutout to faculty who send thank you notes to staff like me for our work. Trust me when I say it’s the best part of my day to hear that the stuff I do actually helps people!

Thought for the morning: Years ago, I thanked a student once for saying something nice about me, to me, and she replied with “It’s easy if it’s true!” I have not forgotten that since. It's easy to forget the impact a kind word can have. Spread the love, folks.

Folks - we'll soon start looking at applications for the TT position in Health Sciences at Gettysburg College. Please consider applying. We'd love to meet you and welcome you as the newest member of our department. Please reach out with questions and thank you for sharing.

Repost for the Monday morning crowd. Come work with me!

Come work with me! The Health Sciences dept. @gettysburg is looking to add a new tenure-track colleague starting August 2024. Details here: gettysburg.peopleadmin.com/postings/5174 and you're also welcome to reach out to me. Thanks for amplifying!

My colleague Melissa Forbes and I spoke with Kevin Roose last week and awoke to the exciting news of seeing our genAI work (genai.sites.gettysburg.edu) at Gettysburg College featured in today's NYT: www.nytimes.com/2023/08/24/t... How fun!

For the evening crowd: I talked with Viji Sathy and Kelly Hogan on today's Intentional Teaching podcast about how they talk about inclusive teaching with different audiences, especially when "inclusion" can be so politically loaded. Listen here: intentionalteaching.buzzsprout.com/2069949/1344...

One of the more stressful things for an introvert who runs a Center for Teaching and Learning: creating a mailing list of close to 200 people, writing a message with lots of hyperlinks (do they work? is the content good?), and hitting send.

Geeky Pedagogy audiobook is on sale! Read by a wonderful voice actor, Randye Kaye.
