“The Gullspang Miracle is a riveting look at how being a family is about more than just blood and DNA.” Brandon Thomas @brandonct.bsky.social has our review:

I deeply hope that Ryan Coogler doesn’t go back to the MCU. WB should be throwing themselves at him and whatever original concept he comes up with next.

Will eating an entire bag of Swedish Fish before bed cause night terrors? Asking for a friend.

I guess the Pope didn’t tell Vance “thank you”.

Clive Barker gets it. faroutmagazine.co.uk/hellraiser-c...

It’s still pretty stunning to me that J.K. Rowling turned into such a wretched, evil hag.

Five more semesters to go before I officially finish grad school. To say I’m over it is an understatement. Working 40+ hours a week, putting in time for school, and trying to do the things you enjoy is exhausting. You end up resenting all of it.

Pretty sure we are getting close to an end of life decision for our almost 20 year old cat. She continues to lose weight, is inconsistently using the litter box, isn’t responding to meds, and is showing dramatic cognitive decline. Feels like the choice has been made really ☹️

By all accounts I should have ended this week stressed as hell, but the 70 degree weather and sunshine had other plans for me I guess.

Call me unengaged but life is far too short for me to listen to Donald Trump deliver one of his “speeches” ever again.

All over the map with some excellent old and new Asian cinema, low-tier Carpenter, and another Oz Perkins home run.

THE MONKEY is a macabre blast and maybe Oz Perkins’s best. So many exploding bodies!

I’m not sure that catching up on THE HANDMAID’S TALE is a great way to ward off the Sunday Scaries.

None of it is about government waste. All of it is about political ideology.

I rode the back of the bus. I buried Dr. King. You want me to participate in your little hate-a-thon against some other group? Kindly kiss my black ass.

Yesterday I started my day with a bowl of Greek yogurt with granola. I felt like shit all day. Today I started my day with a donut and felt fabulous. Definitely not a coincidence.

This looks more and more enticing by the day.

Deceased 🤣💀

Make a triple feature from the same director across three decades.

I’m eagerly awaiting the social media posts from old people big mad about the Super Bowl halftime show. “What is this noise?! Bring back Kenny Rogers’s corpse for a proper halftime show!”.

I wrote for @southwestreview.bsky.social about Ridley Scott’s misunderstood, marrow-sick masterpiece of the End Times, THE COUNSELOR. Not a noir thriller, nor a cowboy noir, nor a crime film at all; rather, THE COUNSELOR is a soap opera of the Grand Guignol. southwestreview.com/volume-109-n...

I’m have a feeling we wouldn’t be in this mess if Elon had been shoved into a lot more lockers. Or given more wedgies.

The menu board at this restaurant is confusing.

Yeah, so I’m gonna need HEART EYES to be massively successful this weekend for a few reasons: it rules, and @joshruben.bsky.social needs to get his DARKMAN legacy sequel/reboot off the ground.

Until fairly recently I thought people were being too harsh on Fetterman. Not anymore. Fuck Sweatshirt Shrek.

As far modern slashers go, John Hyams’s SICK is miles better than either of two most recent SCREAM sequels. A great twist on the whodunnit, SICK pulls zero punches with the scares, all while leaning into some delightfully dark humor.

By the end of next year I’ll have finally completed my MLIS. Hope libraries are still around and well funded by then!

That fact that I’m drinking less in 2025 is a fucking miracle.

Damien Leone’s emphatic declaration that the TERRIFIER series isn’t political is probably the clearest explanation of why those movies fucking blow.

One can always assume I want pizza. Breakfast? Sure! Lunch? You betcha! Dinner? Of course!

For some reason I have a strong desire to watch LETHAL WEAPON 2. You know, the one that ends with the South African villain who thinks he’s politically untouchable getting his head blown off by Danny Glover. Weird.

Catching up on the news!

Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert's production company throwing shade at AI slop. You love to see it.

I believe the movie industry is at its healthiest when there is a balance of power between the people who create/invent/make things and the people who manage the process. A big issue with the current reliance on IP is that it has unbalanced the system, and given way too much power to the managers.

We live in one of those neighborhoods where you sometimes ask yourself, “Is a skunk around the trashcans or did the neighbors’ weed budget drop dramatically?”

Excessively violent Italian crime cinema from the ‘70s counts as therapy in these trying times.

Pardon me while I act like a baby over the fact that all of these shows are in Los Angeles ☹️

I have homework I should be doing but I also want to aimlessly stare out the window and silently curse winter. Give me a break, it feels important.

One of my greatest fears as a child was that my parents were going to send me to vacation Bible camp in the summer. I couldn’t even fathom an outcome that sounded more boring than that - even as an eight year-old.

The transfers on the KILL BILL 4K discs aren’t necessarily a disaster - they’re just barely a step up from the blu-ray 🤷🏻‍♂️

Cool things I’ve done today: hit my shin so hard getting into my car that I nearly puked.
