How I Found Radical Joy At The Club by Mon Mothma

“Does mommy disappear forever when she leaves the room?” our tech columnist asks.

For @defector.bsky.social, I wrote about the Zionist propaganda film, “October 8,” paranoia, Adolf Eichmann, and why these people are all obsessed with their phones. This was—even leaving content aside—one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen in my life. defector.com/the-paranoid...

A US citizen with a learning disability who has just suffered a medical emergency asks a CBP officer for directions outside the emergency room. He ends up detained in an icebox for ten days and has the assistant secretary of DHS lying about him to the public at large. popular.info/p/us-citizen...

Talking about the "hairdresser" was right and good, actually.

“Both [Israel and Gaza] are mere background for the real subject of the film, which is the wounded, paranoid feelings of American Zionists. And for this, we must leave Israel and head to the heart of the action: the phone.”

I filmed this yesterday on my way to Lousiana where my constituent Rümeysa Öztürk is being wrongfully held by ICE. I’m there now demanding her release. More to come.

damn that’s rough I hope the enormous salary helps

loving this but I do wish they’d kept the vibe of the original cover

young men don’t need a “left Joe Rogan” they need sports betting regulation

realizing they won’t get this call tonight is rather heartbreaking

ladies if he wanted to he would (tell you classified info about forthcoming military actions)

feministly: women be in the kitchen

?

I won't speak for others but I want candidates who won't just win the next election but aggressively, unapologetically destroy trumpism and rebuild everything he's broken. If you're too afraid of a 51-49 poll to even talk about an issue I have no faith that will be you

You will never stop me. I love talking on the phone instead of sending countless emails back and forth. I love having a conversation.

the pollsters, the politicians, anyone in this camp needs to be shown the fucking door

Van Hollen has been pretty vocal about Palestine, too. Not a coincidence that he's also stepping up on this.

missing here: House Dem Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries

something I’ve been embracing lately is having 3 glasses of wine and texting my friends shit like “I admire your integrity”

"Language was a mistake" is one of the very few sentiments I only ever want to see expressed through dance. You must have the courage of your convictions.

always a good time to give a bookish kid who thinks magic is cool the Earthsea books

fuck jk rowling 🖕😤🖕 go to hell. leon stands with his trans brothers and sisters and every one in between forever and always

This is all going to get harder, but they literally cannot legislate you out of existence. When tomorrow arrives, you will still be here, you will still be who you are, and we will all still be here with you.

a lovely little essay, funny and wise

The Trump admin has just detained Mohsen Mahdawi, who: –has green card –was Columbia Buddhist club president –saw his best friend shot & killed by Israeli soldier –said "we are against antisemitism because antisemitism is a form of injustice, and injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere"

us government went from telling miners “learn to code” to telling coders “learn to mine” in less than ten years

Remember when some dems loved to boast the trump was deporting fewer people than biden anyhoo

Lockhart Gardner would never, I can tell you that much

This is a very good point that I haven't seen made yet. It's not just Trump that is undermining trust in the US. It is also the inability of US institutions to stop him. And even if you make that "inability to stop him so far," it's already too far to maintain trust.

I would say more broadly that as policy you really shouldn’t allow government officials to accuse people of *terrorism* anonymously.

Let's speak plainly about what is happening. The First Amendment has been terminated for immigrants.

One of the sources of rot running through our political, intellectual, and media institutions is the total triumph of the idea that democracy means outsourcing your morality and point of view to a fuzzily incoherent view of what's popular. Total rejection of the idea of morality as personal virtue.

Within days of assuming top role, CU trustee-president Claire Shipman personally intervenes to terminate the appeal process of disciplined students and workers, including Grant Miner, shattering any illusion of due process.

don't care for that. no thanks

NEW: Rümeysa Öztürk says she's had 4 painful asthma attacks in ICE custody, and not only is her asthma going untreated but a nurse tore off her hijab, saying, "You need to take that thing off your head." www.aclum.org/sites/defaul...

wow what an incredible value

Ms. Rachel is Hamas now: defector.com/ms-rachel-is...

"The two-page memo, which was obtained by The Associated Press, does not allege any criminal conduct by Khalil" "Rather, Rubio wrote Khalil could be expelled for his beliefs." Free this man immediately. apnews.com/article/mahm...

I was never into Brand New but I think at this point most of us have our own version of the painful ambivalence Lindsey describes so well here

I wrote about Jesse Lacey and Brand New: defector.com/brand-new-to...

Cuomo rehabilitation is so depressing because of all the guys who got MeToo'd out of politics he was probably the guiltiest. he actually got an investigation and the investigation not only verified the public allegations but also found that there were more victims than the press knew about!
