PEGI giving Balatro an 18+ rating while games with MTX/loot boxes are rated 3+ speaks to the performative nature of current rating systems. It’s all about rating the appearances, the aesthetics, not the actual suitability or potential for harm. FIFA’s basically rewarded for wearing a disguise.
