A new poem submitted to the project by Rachael Louise Beaver from the UK, who is currently undergoing #chemotherapy. It's called "I'm Not Brave" #cansky #breastcancer #cancerart breastcancerartproject.wordpress.com/2025/02/22/i...

Diagnosis by Susan Olivera, Puerto Rico “On this piece I try to portray how I felt my world shattering in pieces as I read again and again that piece of paper with the words infiltrating ductal carcinoma on #cansky #breastcancer #arttherapy breastcancerartproject.wordpress.com/2018/01/04/d...

Yesterday I was back in the same hospital and unit where I had my diagnosis and all my chemo. It was the first time for a very long time. I had butterflies and my eye started twitching in the waiting room. But I also felt grateful. I wasn't at all sure I'd make it this far, but there I was. #cansky

Torso by Cath Walshaw “I found the radiotherapy sessions the loneliest of all the treatments I went through. This image expresses the isolation I felt when laying in the darkness...” #cansky #breastcancer #radiotherapy breastcancerartproject.wordpress.com/2018/01/21/t...

'Fighter' by Amy Brock "Fighter is a glimpse at how I see myself, and how I see other people in the midst of fighting all things cancer" The fighter rhetoric does not resonate with everyone but for many it does, and helps #cansky #breastcancer breastcancerartproject.wordpress.com/2017/12/27/f...

I took a little break from the project over Christmas/NY and now time to get back on the mission! Anyone working on an art project at the moment (whether #breastcancer related or not)? I'm trying to make time for my hobbies so have started a new wildlife drawing. I'm half way through a bear! 🐻

Many artworks on this project are raw, even dark, because #breastcancer is gruelling. This one is 'Scream' by Amabel Mortimer. "The words and questions spin through my head endlessly, but there is a light within spewing them out” #cansky breastcancerartproject.wordpress.com/2017/12/11/s...

Going Under by Barbara Price (Memorry of her op with surgical socks!) I found it a weird and curious concept going under. The "missing hours". For some it feels terrifying. However you feel, it involves a whole lot of trust #cansky #breastcancer breastcancerartproject.wordpress.com/2017/11/14/g...

This is the best explanation of breast cancer in men published to date. www.mdanderson.org/cancerwise/m... #Cansky #Oncosky #CancerBS

I'm increasingly seeing artwork in hospitals, uplifting those long clinic walls which are too often quite depressing, and long may it continue. Thank you Paintings in Hospitals @paintingshospitals.bsky.social for helping to bring this to UK hospitals and care settings #arthealth #cansky

I've always liked this collection of portraits, "Special people through my cancer journey" by Diane Kalvick. Some of them are medical professionals who helped her through. Who are/were your special people through #cancer? #cansky #breastcancer breastcancerartproject.wordpress.com/2017/10/31/s...

I’m proud of this little animation. Me under general anaesthetic at my #breastcancer surgery #cansky #graphicmedicine

Your reminder that you can read 8 pages of my comic FOR FREE in this medical journal article - I have Thoughts about radiotherapy in the NHS #graphicmedicine #cansky #breastcancer #lifewriting

Lost, by Lorraine Sleator, which she painted shortly after diagnosis with #breastcancer. #cansky ##arthealth ##arttherapy breastcancerartproject.wordpress.com/2017/11/23/l...

Here's some answers to FAQs on the project and how to submit your art. Q: What media do we accept? Q: Is there are deadline? Q: Who can submit art? Q. How do I actually submit the work? And more... #breastcancer #cansky #arttherapy #arthealth breastcancerartproject.wordpress.com/2023/02/19/h...

"dance hard, dance fierce, until they become tumbling dust and nothing is left but a drumbeat" (Excerpt from Lucy Heuschen's poem) I love this! Mine was samba. I took it up after active treatment for #breastcancer It gave me joy, freedom, feminity, carnival. Dance is art, dance is healing💃 #cansky

Most of our submissions are not from professional artists, but sometimes they are. This beautiful one is by artist (and dear friend) Sue Olivera, from Puerto Rico. “Sobrevivi" (I survived) #cansky #breastcancer #arttherpay #arthealth breastcancerartproject.wordpress.com/2017/12/14/s...

Just spotted the Grace Project has joined here! They do amazing portraits of those who've mastectomy from #breastcancer This their website - do check it out. the-grace-project.org #cansky

This is one of my own from 2017, "Cancer ripped the plasters off" I created it just right after a counselling session. I had trauma, from pre-cancer, bottled up inside, and it was all finally coming to the fore #arttherapy #cansky #breastcancer breastcancerartproject.wordpress.com/2017/12/12/c...

We also post contributions from those affected by #breastcancer indirectly, e.g. family, friends or medical professionals. This poem is called "Hope", by Prafull Ranadive (India, 2024) whose wife had breast cancer. #cansky #arthealth breastcancerartproject.wordpress.com/2024/11/30/h...

It's only been a couple of weeks but so far I'm enjoying BlueSky. On X I felt like I was talking into a void, I'm sure in part down to algorithms, so I had little inclination to post. It's great to build up a new and engaged network here 😊 Hello to my new connections 👋💙 #cansky #breastcancer

Truth is, you may never feel 'normal' again - I sure don't. You do adapt though (well there's no choice!). Check out @hayleygullen.com's account, full of these excellent graphics about her experience of #breastcancer #cansky #arthealth

"Who the F*** Am I?" by Amabel Mortimer, 2017 UK “... The black and white is the swirling mass of dark emotions that comes and risks engulfing you with diagnosis” #breastcancer #cansky #arthealth #breastcancerart breastcancerartproject.wordpress.com/2017/11/03/w...

‘Journey Through Cancer – a visual diary" by Barbara Price, who created 115 paintings, one every day from the day she was diagnosed with #breastcancer in 2012. Here's a selection from her collection #cansky #arthealth breastcancerartproject.wordpress.com/2017/10/28/j...

Grow Through What You Go Through by Marlene Styles "This wasn’t an easy thing for me. I had to just let myself dive in. I know this won’t have any meaning to some but for me it truly put things into some sort of perspective” #cansky #breastcancer breastcancerartproject.wordpress.com/2017/11/11/g...

We share poems too! This one is called A Phoenix, A Wolf, A Warrior and Me, by Edwina Maria Thompson, 2017, UK. #breastcancer #breastcancerart #cansky #arthealth breastcancerartproject.wordpress.com/2017/11/08/a...

"You'll be the Death of Me" by Amanel Mortimer, 2017, UK "It is painted on top of a printed obituaries column as I wanted to illustrate the transient nature of life and the fear of my own mortality.” #breastcancer #cansky breastcancerartproject.wordpress.com/2017/10/22/3...

Reflection by Claire Grove, 2017 “I’m not good at telling people how I feel, and this painting was a way to communicate how I felt and that despite a positive attitude there are some days when it feels like cancer is winning" #breastcancer #cansky breastcancerartproject.wordpress.com/2017/10/27/r...

Time Bombs by Kath Haines, 2017 #breastcancer #cansky #arthealth breastcancerartproject.wordpress.com/2017/10/29/t...
