🧵 1/3 - Beyond the landscape, recent #Iceland 🇮🇸 trip highlights included a micro-residency at hafnar.haus, talks, discussions, brilliant socially conscious creatives in the former Ministry of Welfare. Lunchtime food parades and possibly the best office view ever ..

Taken by how Icelanders seem to know my hometown of #Grimsby better than people in the UK do. Isolated Icelandic villages often had better ties to coastal towns around the world than Reykjavik. Got quite reflective, took a trip out to the Westfjords - came across a wrecked Grimsby trawler on the way

Took some time out from my trip to 🇮🇸 to chat with Josie Maltinsky Gaitens from East of Moon about being a Creative Technologist in Policy Lab ... #EastOfMoonTransmissions #CreativeTechnology -

Love the idea that writing blogs is writing letters to AI

🧵 1/4 - In our fortnightly blue-sky session #ImaginationStation we took a closer look at the electronics around us as part of an art exploration. Part of this was logging off of Teams, shutting down the Macbook and removing the back cover to see what was inside ...

1/3 🧵 - Cross government software engineering conference today at GDS Whitechapel, presenting talk on Creative Technology in Government …

🧵 1/4 - I've been tracking the prediction in this 2001 BT Exact whitepaper for well over 20 years now (https://brendan.sdf-eu.org/downloads/the_future.pdf) lots of interesting predictions but perhaps the most interesting thing is how much it said about the time it was written ...

Policy mini games? WarioWare for workshops? A Policy Lab #ImaginationStation session building and publishing experimental games in Downpour (thanks to @v21.bsky.social for the amazing toolkit)

Really thoughtful and well presented futures work from Natural England 🍃 'Ecology Re-Wired' at Horizon House, Bristol. #GenerativeAI imagery, natural artefacts and especially love the quiet office pod converted into a listening booth 🎧

🧵 1/3 - 'Café Les Négociants' sits on the corner of a busy intersection in Marrakech - people (mostly guys) come here to make deals and people watch. When I arrived I really didn't like the negotiations when buying stuff here, no prices on anything, but after a week I started to get into it ...

Bristol Urban Forum manifesto event, culmination of a years worth of experiments in Bristol on #CitizenAssembly

Huge privilege to write about and continue the work here by Amy Ramdehal, Christie van-Tinteren and Stephen Bennett openpolicy.blog.gov.uk/2024/10/29/a... - "how can Natural England better work with early-stage creatives on protected sites across the country?"

Civil servants… 6 month placements at Policy Lab www.linkedin.com/posts/policy...

At the Vision for #CreativeTech in #Bristol panel talk - very interesting discussion of how we can form a narrative for Bristol in the UK and abroad

It’s pretty low on the #DIY difficulty metric but it’s crazy how much satisfaction oiling the curtain tracks has brought …

Policy Lab is recruiting for a policy designer - come work with us in a really interesting policy team in UK Government! www.civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk/csr/jobs.cgi...
