Calling fellow MPs ‘quislings’ & ‘traitors’ isn’t just a pathetic (& painfully inauthentic) attempt to sound populist - it’s also dangerous. MPs know they are all at risk from violence, threats & even murder - yet Jenrick uses language that he knows will increase that threat.

With the exception of the Mail and the Independent every national paper has led with the pictures of the little girls - not their killer. That’s as it should be & will be appreciated by the families. Deny sadistic killers the notoriety they crave.

Understanding terrorists’ motives is important, as is revealing unpatable truths to be reckoned with/preventable failures. But the glee with which attacks are jumped on by some for political one upmanship, before facts known & bypassing the tragedy of victims, speaks to a societal sickness.

I’ve written for the @DailyMirror about yesterday’s terror attack & why we should ignore those who use terror to drive hatred. www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-n...

Horrific violence in Germany tonight. We know what terrorists want: 💥Fear 💥Fame 💥Fallout If we refuse to give in to fear, stand united & consign them to irrelevance fewer people will follow their example. Don’t give the perpetrator what they want. Unite against terror.

Here’s a centre right starter pack, for those who want to ensure this isn’t entirely an echo chamber go.bsky.app/DNLEPTu

Anyone else think we should have more free votes in parliament? Obviously they can’t be for everything but they make the debate so much better quality when every MP has to examine & justify their views. Whatever your view on the outcome yesterday, the debate was excellent.

Politics isn’t about shirking difficult decisions- it’s about taking them. This was an incredibly difficult & decisive debate but @kimleadbeatermp.bsky.social was 100% right to give parliament the chance to vote on it & we are all very proud of her.

Has anyone done a list of right/centre right voices on here? Am keen to have a feed not dominated by people I already agree with.

Good to be away from the cesspit of X - but feeling slightly worried that we are going to end up in bubbles that reinforce our pre-existing views. Am hoping Bluesky becomes a truly open & diverse platform where people can debate different viewpoints without abuse.
