Here's the long poem I wrote Friday. Only just got around to editing it. I need to do two more today to get caught up.

Can’t believe it’s #america 💔

Okay, I'm going to need a lot more discipline for my daily-poem project for National Poetry Month.

My girlfriend loves Eighties culture but somehow has never seen Back to the Future. About to change that.

This seems right, and all of this is WRONG.

A president who has the power to send an innocent human being to a foreign concentration camp, but claims he lacks the power to bring them back, is committing the crime of false imprisonment.

"Bill Maher just provided a textbook demonstration of how liberal commentators normalize authoritarian tendencies through the selective valorization of private charm over public consequences."

oh my effing gawd

UHF (1989) Se7en (1995) 🔉

Btw, if I ever meet Bill Maher, I plan to annoy him by only wanting to talk about his turn on Max Headroom.

More like Glueigi cause my man is uniting the fucking country

Bill Maher says that the public Trump is an act. If so, that's worse. Because it's calculated, which means Trump is far smarter and more evil than we thought.

I wrote a poem for today, but it's quite long and probably needs some editing when I'm not exhausted.

It's been a heavy week! The only heaviness these otters have to worry about is the weight of their favorite object. Rock on, otters! 🪨🦦 Goodnight!

@thefridacinema.org 🤣 😹 😅 #thefridacinema #theshining #thetalkingheads #stopmakingsense #davidbyrne #jacknicholson #shelleyduvall #youmayaskyourself #howdidigethere #talkingheads #sameasiteverwas #sameasiteverwas

when i die, turn my ashes into a brick, and use me to bash in the head of a fucking fascist

someone trotted out the old “you can own a dog, but cats own you” line today, and man i hate that so much pets aren’t property! they are weird little dudes you let live in your home because they need somewhere to be, and you are fond of weird little dudes! if you’re lucky, they will even love you!

Idiots. Malevolent, incompetent idiots.

I didn't write a poem yesterday, so here we go. I've decided that if I miss a day, it's okay to make it up the next day--as long as I stay on top of it and don't fall back any further. It's my personal creative project and I'm making the rules.

Trump 2: Revenge of the Confederacy

Forcing people to pay $130 for a passport in order to vote is just a Jim Crow poll tax by another name. It is blatantly unconstitutional.

“The fundamental weakness of western civilization is empathy,” Musk continued to Rogan, couching his argument in the type of pseudoscientific language that’s catnip to both men’s followings on X. “The empathy exploit. They’re exploiting a bug in western civilization, which is the empathy response.”

Narrator: History would prove he had that right.

I live very near the American border and I have had three people in the past week tell me they had problems in Watertown, New York as Canadians based on their license plate. Asked to leave a restaurant, another had their tires slashed, and one had their car keyed.

Chairman Mao, please call your office.

Poem number nine. I continue to amaze myself by persevering with this project.

The stupid... it b-u-r-n-s...!!! 🔥 🔥 🔥

He's a moron. He's always been a moron. You're a moron for voting for him.

Happy 97th birthday to Tom Lehrer, who confirmed his status as a Great Man a few years ago by releasing all his work into the public domain. tomlehrersongs.com

pro tip: if your government claims to have no money for children's heathcare but will eagerly waste millions on a gaudy military parade to stroke the fragile ego of a broken-inside president, you just might live in a shithole country

Pundits are - in vain - looking to economics and politics when trying to explain Trump's behavior. But, in reality, the central place to look if we want to understand Trump and his policies is this: The psychology of dominance. 🧵(1/5)

Revised version of last night's poem.

Tom Lehrer remains among the most insightful commentators on contemporary politics, which is saying something since he hasn't engaged in political commentary since 1972. Hope he's enjoying his 97th (!) birthday. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAwh...
