My latest Cog Blog post based on my tiny contribution to Karen Nelson-Field's lastest book: The Attention Economy: A Category Blueprint. Mind you I do quote from 'The Idler' (Edition 40), which is something. www.bjanda.com/blog/how-to-...

The ad agency Leo Burnett has been rebranded as Leo, within the Publicis Groupe holdco. Hardly surprising, or earth-shattering news, but does it matter? Some thoughts from an old employee. www.bjanda.com/blog/whats-i...

The first Cog Blog of 2025 considers the Americanisation of how we 'do' media. Is the focus on the global platforms like Meta and X a good thing (spoiler alert: no), and what can we do about it? www.bjanda.com/blog/the-americanisation-of-media

It's worth remembering in the light of the Tortoise acquisition that 'The Guardian' hasn't always owned 'The Observer'. It bought it in 1993 from Tiny Rowland. 'The Observer' has existed since 1791. It's the world's oldest Sunday newspaper.

A polite reminder that no-one has yet seen the new Jaguar car (a concept car isn't a production ready car), nor an ad. Jaguar is playing the comms game very well. Annoying all the right people, stacking up the free publicity. The ground has been well and truly laid...

My new Cog Blog post is here for the first time (bye-bye X). In it I explain how a simple example from the days of newspapers can resonate today, and ilustrate the issues faced within media agencies. www.bjanda.com/blog/princip...

I'm being asked to follow many of you. Thank you, but if I don't know what you do or what's important to you and can't work it out from your profile, I won't follow. I'm not making the same mistake I made at 'the other place'.

Every so often I check back in to X. It's like looking into the flames of hell - so much hate, dislike, misinformation. So little debate and constructive dialogue. Closing my account there shortly.

I'm probably going to be drummed out of the ad business for failing to comment (within minutes of its release) on the Jaguar teaser. They say everyone's an expert in two things: their own job and advertising. I think that comment was meant to be ironic. On Jaguar I would rather wait to see the ad.

As a newbie these starter packs are very helpful (and oddly rare in our world) - so well done @alextait.bsky.social for this one. And I'm flattered to be on it...!

Elon Musk to Jaguar: 'Are you selling cars?' Elon Musk to advertisers: 'Go f**k yourselves.' Elon Musk's X depends on advertising for the bulk of its revenue. Is he selling advertising?

My first BlueSky post, still getting to grips with this site having decided I've had enough of all the hate and rubbish on Twitter /X. Will be posting on media and advertising matters.
