President Trump on Friday ordered that all foreign assistance to South Africa be halted and said his administration would prioritize the resettling of white, "Afrikaner refugees" into the U.S. because of what he called actions by the country’s government that "racially disfavored landowners."

The richest man in the world—who has now installed unqualified loyalists throughout the US government—is getting much of his information from far-right sources who present a world in which “Western Civilization” is in an existential struggle against Black and brown invaders.

Mass demonstrations in #SanDeigo against #ICE and in solidarity with immigrant workers targeted by Trump last night were attacked by riot police in heavily armored vehicles with tear gas, after protesters rallied and occupied streets with flags and music for hours. Photos via /omartineztj.

You don’t have to worship where you’re not wanted.

Just saw a farmer say, "you don't have to admit you were wrong, you have to admit you were lied to, " and idk that seems like a good framing to call people in

Chicago, 2/8—anti-deportation protesters braved wintry weather for a rally followed by a march down 26th St. in La Villita. Activists credit a widespread Know Your Rights campaign for decreasing the number of encounters with ICE agents across the city and suburbs.

Because this is getting downplayed in some of the coverage, the racist staffer DOGE rehired isn’t a case of “stupid things he wrote years ago as a teen.” He posted about how we should “normalize Indian hate” IN SEPTEMBER.

I'm working my way through Ecclesiastes this year. Today as I was reading I was thinking about the Spirit of Wisdom mentioned in Isaiah 11. I know there are plenty of things to be pressed and stressed about, but I feel the Lord calling his children to fix our eyes on something greater.

Sentencing Trump to an unconditional discharge means that yes, he can basically shoot somebody on Fifth Avenue and get away with it It means that-if you’re rich and powerful enough-you can get away with anything It means the American justice system has utterly failed us THAT’S what it means

Walked out of the gym today into the icy sunrise, feeling a bit "Olympic" (Cool Runnings ref). But I was also feeling a little bit defeated because I've been having trouble sticking to my calories. Went home and created this to encourage myself and you, too! www.redbubble.com/i/holographi...

Ecclesiastes 1:1-8 Well, here we go with the beginning of the book of Ecclesiastes. To begin with, I always like to remind myself that I’m not coming to gain knowledge for trivia sake. While there might be some interesting facts, that’s not the goal. (It probably was mine for a long time.) I’m…

“As an editorial cartoonist, my job is to hold powerful people and institutions accountable. For the first time, my editor prevented me from doing that job. So I have decided to leave the Washington Post” — Ann Telnaes, after drawing this cartoon, which included the image of a supplicant Jeff Bezos

Ann Telnaes deserves praise for sacrificing her job at the disgraced Washington Post in service of journalistic independence open.substack.com/pub/anntelna...

Bravo, @anntelnaes.bsky.social. I guess the new slogan for the Washington Post ought to be: “Newspapers die in cowardice.” anntelnaes.substack.com/p/why-im-qui...

Introduction to Ecclesiastes It would be really, really simple to open this book and conclude: "Everything in this book is wise, and therefore true, and therefore good." But can we really say that?

I find it astounding how since I was a child, I was given a general impression by my church community and leaders that Carter wasn't a "real Christian," but now as an adult I find that he just wasn't a "real Republican."

Aule Lang syne, blueskies

Show me your trees!!!

I'm so thankful for this early Christmas treat of winning this package in the giveaway!! Thank you so much @mburtwrites.bsky.social and @kkdumez.bsky.social 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

Bluesky probably isn't the place to say this, but there is a cottage cheese conspiracy at my walmart and I'm the only one brave enough to talk about it

Last night we stopped at my in laws house and I found this photo of me and @natashametzler.bsky.social from I think 2001. Gen z will never how amazing it was to get 161 assorted sized prints of your Walmart photo session in for only $8.88.

My question is, did Apple TV buy the rights to A Charlie Brown Christmas because they're big fans, or did they buy exclusivity so they could suppress its exposure and limit its airing? There's no way this is a big win for them, and it's a big loss for families in the United States and Canada.

Dear Santa, for Christmas I want to go back thirty years to 1994 for: -a Totally Hair Barbie -black roller blades with hot pink wheels -a boxed set of Babysitter's Club paperbacks -LipSmackers lip gloss in Cupcake flavor -a hair crimper, and -a delusional faith in my civilization's institutions.

I just mended something for the first time in like 2 years, I'm basically Laura Ingalls Wilder

Marcus Aurelius: "What do I have to complain of, if I'm going to do what I was born for—the things I was brought into the world to do? Or is this what I was created for? To huddle under the blankets and stay warm?" Me:

Someone please help me understand Out of the Silent Planet. I'm reading it for the second time and just as confused as ever. I'm at the part where Hyoi just died and the whole thing just feels so dreary and creepy. Clive you're not impressing me
