tonight in “things that definitely happened” … can’t wait to see the canada side of this readout

🤔

Imagine being rich enough to do anything you want and choosing to take food and medicine from starving children to give yourself even more money.

Crockett: "It's just that they're idiots. These are the same guys as it relates to our nuclear stockpile, they're like, 'Oh, wait a minute, we needed those guys? Can we get them back? Oh, we don't know how to.' I don't know how anyone can look at this administration & feel a semblance of confidence"

All the headlines right now are "important government official who manages a key system keeping you safe resigns" or "Trump makes friends with the country that wants to kill Americans the most"

Tom Homan asks “where is that line,” as if it is mysterious or unknowable. It’s not. Tom’s saying it that way because he’s too much of a coward just to say “she should be arrested for telling people their rights.” Also, to be fair, he may be too dim to understand the line.

If you wanted to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, you would empower the inspectors general. If you wanted more waste, fraud, and abuse, you would fire them.

This is probably the most accurate take.

The community note 🤌😘

Deputy AG Lionel Hutz quickly scribbling an ampersand onto it.

“VOTING FOR THE MAYOR WHO PROMISED TO BLOW UP THE CITY DOESN’T MEAN I APPROVE OF THE MAYOR BLOWING UP THE CITY” A masterclass from @mikedrucker.bsky.social

sounds legit

The Twitter collapse but with nukes.

When I heard Musk say this on Tuesday, my assumption was that it was a programming issue. Because I can code and have written to databases and because I am familiar with other examples of default values being misinterpreted. Yet somehow Musk isn't.

It's striking the extent to which there's never any justification given for any of this beyond "it's too many people" or "it's actually fake" and no apparent planning behind any of it. It's the aesthetics of "move fast and break things" without any discernible direction or purpose. It's cosplay.

CBS Evening News covers so many more news topics–in much more depth–in one episode than David Muir’s ABC Nightly News does in one episode. Should’ve switched a long time ago, but it was just habit. Added benefit of not having to change the channel for Wheel of Fortune afterwards. 😉

ok! www.sltrib.com/news/politic...

Yes, we let a rich idiot nobody elected destroy the entire government, but it was that or make rich people pay taxes so that poor people could go to the doctor

This entire thing is almost comically corrupt

Help people learn about their rights. It makes fascist scum angry.

“MaYbe shE’s goiNg to be in TroUble nOw” Maybe he can learn to read. The Constitution would be a good place to start

I thought they were all self-made rugged individualists who didn’t rely on socialism.

farcical

This is a flat-out, clear-cut violation of the First Amendment.

We’re done here. Right?

Me: idk, I feel like the Samuel L. Jackson bits were maybe too heavyhanded, we don’t need the subtext spelled out for us, the audience is smarter than that Me after reading several insane takes about the halftime show: I think maybe the Samuel L. Jackson bits were not heavyhanded enough

The dumbest people who have ever existed are running the country

Ok, so they also hated Jon Batiste’s performance of the national anthem. You could understand the words perfectly fine. Not disrespecting the flag at all—to the contrary. Still trying to figure out what the commonality it is. More research needed.

James Comer had 2 years to dig into all this supposed govt corruption that Musk is “discovering.” That’s what Oversight Committee is supposed to do. Instead, he spent 2 years on Hunter Biden - which resulted in nothing except a James Comer book deal.

Lord knows I’m not a constitutional scholar not even a lawyer (and I’ve yet to check in with @kateshaw.bsky.social) but a legal regime in which “you can do crimes if you’re buddies with the president or praise him publicly” is *on its face* a violation the equal protection of the laws.

President Musk’s plan to lower inflation? Put the eggs on the block chain.

Kendrick certainly just made all the worst people in this country mad, so that’s some nice icing on the cake

“A minorrrrrrrr”

Great point.

Indeed, no one could’ve predicted.

No one has tried this before, let's see how it plays out.

What if history just didn't repeat itself, for once?

Listen, we were all young and stupid once. You can’t judge someone for the thoughtless and provocative posts they made all the way back in September and December of 2024. It was a different time back then.

Sincere props to a colleague who very obviously is doing his job well.

To recap, a 19-year-old without a security clearance named bigballs can get into the EPA. Senator Ed Markey cannot.

Senator Schatz, @schatz.bsky.social, rejects idea that Dems should wait for Trump to touch 'most popular' programs to fight. "I'm not going to just wait until they touch the ACA. That's the kind of pundit-brain, poll-tested bullshit that got us into this mess." www.newyorker.com/news/q-and-a...

this appears to be based entirely on subscriptions for Politico Pro that many govt agencies pay for. but it doesn't matter, this is now fact for roughly half the country for eternity and will be used to do whatever they want.

words fail

Trump: "The US will take over the Gaza Strip."

Surprise surprise. 🙄 Netanyahu has to be thrilled.

Now the whole country gets the experience of what it's like when private equity buys the place you work

Hard to compete with this
