Just got a quote from Doric for supplies and amazingly the prices have not gone up ✨

I didn't think these two would get along but I also never dreamed the circular firing squad would get raging so quickly

Talked to @KateZernike at @nytimes about my journey and the current moment for scientists in the U.S. “Ardem Patapoutian’s story is not just the American dream, it is the dream of American science.” Read the article here. No subscription required: www.nytimes.com/2025/06/03/u...

Wow, Florida broadcasters telling their viewers exactly how cuts to science funding will impact them. Kudos for getting out there

I think these guys will have something to say about reopening Alcatraz….the outside is worth visiting

A strong statement about the importance of NIH on @cbsnews.com.web.brid.gy Sunday Morning (Part 1)

One problem we face today is how few people understand the science that helps us all. Some scientists are able to explain the importance of their work. @baym.lol of Harvard University is one of them. Science is for everyone, and benefits us all more than most people know.

Restraining order issued on Harvard international student case, that was fast

TRO GRANTED! in the Harvard international student case. ✊💪🔥 www.courtlistener.com/docket/70349...

Oh man, what a self-own. A govt lawyer brought up DEI in passing, Judge Young was Not Happy: "If putting these words together, DEI, is somehow offensive... does that mean our policy is homogeneity, inequity, and exclusion? Are you going to stand there and tell me that's now the policy of the NIH?"

Government getting skewered in court

🚨 A new rule would let career scientists like NSF/NIH program officers be replaced by political appointees Already 14,000+ public comments, deadline is Friday 📣 Comments can be short. Courts consider them—and scientists with NSF/NIH experience are especially impactful Speak up! shorturl.at/WKuBj

taking a short break from the despair to feel good about a scored VA application, 2 awards for undergrads, and all green lights on my way to the lab this morning

Read this thread to learn how you can help slow down the effort to turn NIH/NSF employees into political appointees

This is important! Let the FDA know that it is not acceptable to reduce access to Covid vaccines that have been shown to be safe and help prevent transmission and keep the disease milder.

It is good to see Harvard fighting back, their home page showing everyone the impact of pulling federal grants on our society www.harvard.edu

Do you remember the movie Awakenings? The miracle drug that treated those locked-in patients was L-Dopa, developed with NIH funding, & the gold standard for treating Parkinson’s disease. publicusaresearchbenefits.com/examples/202... Ask Congress to save science. #FundingScienceSavesLives

This statement did not age well

Greg Carr explains how academic drug discovery research de-risks the investigation of compounds that the private sector isn’t willing to gamble on

Keep calling your representatives everyone! Perhaps one call won’t make a difference but if we all call the message may get through

I made 5 phone calls this afternoon. Two to state reps (UC funding) and 3 to federal reps (science funding). I got through to a person twice. One suggested setting up a meeting w/UCD govt affairs (working on it).......don't give up, make those calls
