For those puzzled why the strong box office opening of SINNERS is being framed as disappointing somehow, Vulture gave the game away two days ago. Studios are freaking out about letting the copyright revert to Coogler, so the film can't be seen as a success. The fix is in.

I need yall to understand that there juat aren't that many filmmakers who use PHYSICAL FILM on their movies anymore. I tried it ONCE on a job and it frustrated me to no end. It takes a special sort of dedication and intent to even want to do this. Sinners was real fun, good and important.
