Green councillor @tobywells.bsky.social: “This is vital for our decarbonisation efforts and improving air quality across Bristol. It shows what’s possible when we work together across our region.”

“It’s time for the losers in this rigged economy to finally come out on top. First, that means rethinking the Chancellor’s arbitrary fiscal rules,” says @carladenyer.bsky.social.

Amongst the global economic chaos, there’s one thing our govt should do above all else: take control of the economy and make it work for people here. That means rethinking Reeves's arbitrary fiscal rules, protecting living standards, and investing, not cutting. metro.co.uk/2025/04/09/t...

Wes Streeting has ordered cost-cutting that could see the NHS axe more than 100,000 jobs. Labour wants to see thousands of jobs sacrificed at the altar of 'efficiency' rather than funding the NHS properly. The Green Party would fund our NHS and protect it from private interests.

⌛️ One day left to register to vote! www.gov.uk/register-to-...

Residents have raised concerns w me about how fire engines are to get thru the new EBLN bollards. I've been in contact w the transport team & the fire service. Crews should have codes to get through, but the fire service are also double checking the area for access, including access to tower blocks.

Enjoyed meeting with our local police this morning on Ashley Down Road and Ralph Road, with the speed monitor. Both these roads have terrible issues with speeding. Letters will be sent to all those who were speeding. We’re also going to set up a community speed watch team with residents. #20isPlenty

“With fewer cars clogging the roads, buses are now able to run closer to schedule, encouraging more people to use them. This has created a ‘virtuous circle’,” explains Green councillor Paula O'Rourke.

In a privatised bus market, we have to cut congestion to be able to improve the service. Here’s a working example from Clifton in Bristol. www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol...

🗣️ "We are smashing through records getting more and more hard-working councillors elected" says @adrianramsay.bsky.social from our 2025 local election campaign launch.

BREAKING: Public ownership of water companies would reduce bills by £3–5bn a year. A report by the University of Greenwich and @weownit.org.uk shows households would be £113 a year better off with nationalised water companies. The Green Party wants to see water back into public hands

Absolutely right. Time for politicians to start telling the truth - that migration is good for this country - instead of dancing to Nigel Farage's tune and whipping up dangerous anti-migrant hate. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Many tenants are living in appalling conditions in Queens Court and some are now facing eviction threats. With fellow cllr George Calascione, I’ve been working to support tenants. Thanks to @mattyedwards23.bsky.social for this thorough investigative article in @thebristolcable.bsky.social

"The idea that we just keep doing the same thing is just crazy." @carolinelucas.bsky.social questions why this Labour Government are choosing to balance the books on the back of the poor instead of the super-rich.

Last week I met one of Scope's storytellers, Jean, who has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Jean told me about her current experiences with PIP, UC, and the Access to Work scheme, and how the govt's cuts would leave her unable to feed herself properly, and at risk of becoming homeless.

Labour giving the largest, most expensive and most polluting car manufacturers a license to increase pollution. Is that what everyone voted for? Rules on UK car firms relaxed ahead of 2030 petrol vehicles ban www.bbc.com/news/article...

Green candidate for West Of England Mayor talking to BBC Politics West about her plans in Week 1 when she's elected and providing one free day of transport a week for everyone. 💚 Vote Mary Page for West of England Mayor on 1st May! 💚 Credit - BBC Bristol Broadcasting House

In this clip my @greenparty.org.uk @bristolgreenparty.bsky.social MP Carla Denyer @carladenyer.bsky.social wears a burgundy shawl w/ embroidery (tatreez) by my friend Lujayn in Gaza. Thank you for speaking out & for this sign of solidarity! Lujayn's birthday is tomorrow. 1/

Welcome!

On #TransDayOfVisibility I want to celebrate my wonderful trans and non-binary friends, neighbours and colleagues in the UK and across the world. The trans community is strong, vibrant and defiant in the face of prejudice and hate, and I will always stand with you.

Honoured to visit another of Bristol's diverse places of worship this weekend, Assahaba Mosque on Cheltenham Rd, with my colleague @bristolgreenparty.bsky.social Councillor Mohamed Makawi who worships here. Wishing all my Muslim constituents in Bristol, and Muslims across the UK, Eid Mubarak! 🌙

Ooh that’s me! 😊💚 We don’t have the multi-millions of the other parties to produce flash sales pitch videos but what we have is genuine and ambitious plans to put the heart back in our communities. #VoteGreen #RealHope #RealChange May 1st Mary for West of England mayor! @greenparty.org.uk

🟢 Meet Mary Page, Green Party candidate for the West Of England Mayor. 🟢 Mary will champion all our communities in the West of England with a Nature, Nurture and Needs plan, shifting the balance of power back into your hands.

Some families have said the East Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood have made the roads safer. Many have also written to the authority, with 39 statements out of 62 supporting the scheme compared to 10 opposing it. This was very heartening to read at transport committee. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Thames Water was privatised in 1989 with no debt. Since then it’s racked up £14.7 billion in debt at the same time as paying out £10.4 billion to its shareholders. If that's not a scam, I don't know what is! #OurWaterOurWay

I enjoyed taking part in this discussion a great deal. Really fascinating insights from Colin and Marcus too and a excellent moderation by Rudy.

4.5 million children are already living in poverty in the UK. Labour had a choice. They could have rebalanced our economy by taxing the super-rich fairly. Instead they CHOSE to remove vital support from ill and disabled people. We won't let them forget it.

Want to talk to your local councillors face to face? We're holding a Lawrence Hill drop-in surgery on Tuesday, 12 noon - 1pm, at Junction 3 Library (BS5 0FJ). Residents of the ward can come raise concerns or ask for help on local issues or council services! No need to book, just drop in. #Bristol

Calls for a #WealthTax are growing - and government's excuses are looking more and more feeble. This week's rally showed the energy of this movement and the breadth of support (78% of the public!) for this common sense policy. Now we keep the pressure up!

🤬 The private water companies have failed and they want us to pay the bill. 💩 Raw sewage was discharged into English rivers and seas for 3,614,428 hours last year - and now our bills are getting hiked by £123. 💚 It's time to take back control of our water.

Rachel Reeves believes in Queasynomics. Stuff to make you sick! Lab: Austerity isn’t working Also Lab: Austerity wasn’t working because Lib Dems and Conservative weren’t doing it right! Lab: Austerity things can only get better now we’re doing it! 🥀 @bristolgreenparty.bsky.social

Councillor Patrick McAllister reacts to Darren Jones MP’s description of PIP payments as “pocket money” and Labour balancing the books on the backs of the disabled.

Well worth listening all the way through. This is my @greenparty.org.uk colleague @elliechowns.bsky.social MP outlining what the government's Planning & Infrastructure Bill _could_ achieve, with a little more ambition...

Councillor Patrick McAllister reacts to Darren Jones MP’s description of PIP payments as “pocket money” and Labour balancing the books on the backs of the disabled.

Thanks to Great Western Hearts ambulance for our training in CPR and defib use today. Having Defibrillators available in our communities and people trained in using them is a life-saving measure and I urge all Councillor to do this vital training.

"Rachel Reeves refuses to consider taxing the very wealthiest in society..." @carladenyer.bsky.social discusses the Spring Statement on BBC Politics Live.

I’ve seen some paternalistic nonsense in my time but this might take the biscuit.
