Friendly tournament but iirc, that’s the first piece of non AFC hardware Japan have picked up since the 2011 World Cup, they’ve had some runners up medals along the way but have only really been able to flex their muscles in Asia

🇺🇸 1-1 🇯🇵 HT -- I make that the most entertaining watch of the Emma Hayes USA era, fantastic match. both teams creating chances, and neither one looking solid defensively. Japan's scintillating passing build-up creates so many overlapping runs they really could've created more shots.

TBS has brought up more than once that the #USWNT was told not to jump. That's the respect Japan gets both from team-wide technical ability, but also how smart they are at reading what's coming & tricking opponents into stepping at the wrong time.
