It just truly stuns me just how much… 1. Prosperity gospel is deeply ingrained even in those who would swear up and down they don’t believe that. They do. Just ask them more clarifying questions. 2. A whole lot of people believe lies about everything and about themselves. Christians specifically 💔

YES, between women in pregnancy distress, less vaccines, more guns, less rule of law, less government help with disabilities and illness… Many many will die.

And that brings up a much bigger question… Where does theology come from? Anyone’s theology…

Evil has always used religion to oppress and harm others and justify this type of corrupt behavior. I choose Jesus and loving my neighbor as myself. The only people Jesus ever condemned were the religious people who embodied false piety.

I choose Jesus, who demonstrated and IS love in its purest form. I reject religion/indoctrination/hate, all used to dominate and control others. Jesus seemed to reject those things, too.

This “My hope is that Jesus is with us, helping us to spread his presence of love, goodness, inclusivity, justice, both within us and without…” Without much hope that the world’s unjust and oppressive systems will even change much…..

It’s interesting to think about where hope comes from and why. Many believe that God will make things right in the after life or some indeterminate future time. Many believe it’s coming in the next decade or two. Many just have an abstract hope for hope’s sake. What do you think?

Based on my reading of history, this arc isn’t true for all people in all times. I think that focusing on building helping, healing, loving relationships when times get tough is how to get through each day.

That’s everything.

In my own mind, I think that Christianity has had more influence on the world than Islam based on European and American power over the last 5 centuries.
