"If ever I have any spare money it's going to go straight into a eunuch's trust". Wish I'd thought of that. I'd be set for life.

Good evening. I'm going to do something now that I haven't done for a very long time. Watch Match of the Day. I want to see what led up to that Arsenal player being sent of yesterday, and of course I want to see West Ham beating them at home. Hoo hah!

Good evening? Oh okay, a quickie. The bread. It's not actually for eating, it's for breadcrumbs and for another bread pudding. Dinner tonight was a 'clear out the fridge' job. Chicken thighs, gravy, frozen peas and corn, various flavoursome ingredients, mashed spuds. And custard (with the afters).

From the New Yorker, by Ellis Rosen.

I've ballsed up. I should be laying down for me afternoon kip about now, but I had to make bread today and it's taking longer to prove than I wanted. Another 20-30 minutes before it goes in the oven, then 40 minutes baking. I had a pretty awful night's sleep so I could use some shuteye right now.

If I'd been smart I'd have started calling each post an Opus, the way that classical composers did. If I chain three posts together it would be Op. [X] No. 1/2/3. It's too late for that now.

See my previous post.

I'm not calling it news any more. From now on it's 'what's that oaf said/done now?'.

Today is the 132nd birthday of the last person named in this song. You're welcome. And Gawd bless Lord Upminster. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jeD...

Tell me that picture of the cod with mussels doesn't look like a facehugger is about to jump out of it and I won't believe you. And if I was served that duck liver I'd call the waiter back and say they'd forgotten to put any food on the plate. www.theguardian.com/food/2025/fe...

Would I wear a costume like that if it meant being seduced by Liz Fraser? In a heartbeat.

British Antarctic Survey From the new Private Eye, out now.

Today I have seen two famous people I once moved. I can say no more.

I love how the Spanish put gardens and terraces on their rooves. I would absolutely do that if I had the opportunity.
