Am in absolute awe over @jmcelroy.bsky.social’s travel year. His Instagram is magical, his tales lovely, and the sense of adventure and curiosity and exploration are just inspiring. Met him in Paris on the way, and told him so. Awesome.

Je t’aime, Montreal

I like this guy, but don't call anything Coast Salish "Canadian". The Cowichan, for instance, have territory that extends into what's now the US. The Coast Salish as a whole are split almost perfectly in half by the US-Canada border - and have close ties between reserves on both sides. 1

We don’t have a good mental model for the meteorite that ended the Cretaceous. It hit so fast it punched a hole in our atmosphere and surely launched dinosaurs into space. This technically makes some poor T-Rex earth’s first astronaut. Passage from Ends of the World by @peterbrannen.bsky.social.

Got on the skytrain with both kids Sunday afternoon looking to bask in the Swiftness downtown not realizing the Canucks matinee and rode the wave of a thoroughly great city vibe for the rest of the day. A win on the ice, glitter in the streets, and friendship bracelets all the way home.

Four year old handing me a stack of play pancakes from the toy kitchen. “Daddy these pancakes don’t have protein in them.” “No, they’re all carbs.” “Yeah, and also they’re toys.” 😑

Spare a thought for bassist extraordinaire Herbie Flowers (86) who journeyed on today. Played bass for Bowie, McCartney, Elton John, among many others, and this iconic bass intro: Lou Reed - Walk on the Wild Side (Official Audio) youtu.be/oG6fayQBm9w?...

Mathematical limerick I found somewhere on the internet years ago! It’s written out in the alt text 😜 #🧮

@jonbecker.bsky.social Still up?

Jack Goelke goes 10/20 from three, not even attempting a two point FG. Yiiikes. #marchmadness

The woods are good.

Lol, the headcount on dinners for our upcoming five night spring break ski trip with friends is 30.
