I can take conceding 2 poor goals but it’s cheating to use VAR in that way. Shameful that what was regarded as a clear penalty by professional footballers is denied by a nobody in an office sat miles away looking to find an excuse not to play to the rules. VAR not the problem. Human bias the issue.

I’m a maudlin’ old so and so. I’m positive about the new stadium, but it feels like we’re about to move home from somewhere that’s got so many memories - somewhere you could always go back to and take comfort from. Life is about change. Got to adapt. Hope it’s the start of a wonderful future #EFC

Wikipedia. It’s a statement of the obvious to say treat it with caution as a source of info. You should do that with any source, if you are interested in history. So few people seem to understand that they can play a part in making it more reliable. Use it intelligently.

Safe journey home, Blues 💙 What a performance & effort from the lads & the fans 🙌 Good to see the opposition team taking a late goal well, too! #UTFT 💙

Jack Harrison deserves some credit for also stepping up with a decent performance today. Knew things needed sorting early on as defending we were messy on that side and worked it out with Mykolenko. Created the winner with a deep cross for O’Brien to head back into the mix.

A little sidebar task I’ve set myself at work for when I have a block of time for it is enhancing photo records on aspects of the #FWW #1GM French Army. Learning a lot about the AVLF and ALGP over the last couple of days. Anything we do by way of collection development enhances its usability.

And why has no-one condemned the water bottle thrown by away fans during the melee at the end of last night's derby? (Oh, that's ok, the home side will probably pay any fine.) #UTFT

The Met office have issued a flood warning in Liverpool overnight. The river Mersey has burst its banks due to millions of salty Kopite tears. #Everton

Reposted here in a very different context to when I posted it the first time. #GroundhogDay #EFC.

The best moment in the equaliser was when Jack Harrison’s cross was blocked, the ball came back and hit his head and fell to Mykolenko to lump it into the box! #EFC

The players didn’t give up. That was the kind of spirit we should have in every game and I think with some more quality in the squad, we can compete with anyone. Goodison deserved a finale like that. #UTFT #EFC

www.theguardian.com/football/202... Plenty of this connected. Except my brother, Dave, and I have been going a lot more regularly down the (many) years to get a taste of the pain (lots of that) and the occasional triumph. Now my son gets to go through it all with us. #Evertonians #EFC

Also, the ‘young woman of charm and beauty’ referred to in this post ALT text was an Argyle fan. Even warmer smile 😊 now

Bloody hell, @pafc.co.uk ! Well done and congratulations!!!

I’ll miss this. Genuinely. #EFC #UTFT

And another reminder …

Ah! What a great friend of mine used to call ‘The warm smile of remembrance’!

Up the free-scoring Toffees! (Another 3 and we might be able to relax) #EFC

Thought the crowd recognised the need to *lift* the players, not get on their backs today. Deserved that effort for the first half performance #EFC

Sat in splendid isolation in the Upper Bullens (finding space was always in my playbook) three rows from the front. Able to express myself and keep my unbeaten record at Goodison this season. Some promise, but against a poor side struggling in League One. Armstrong & Ndiaye offer hope. #EFC

Weird. Sudden. Bizarre. My club #EFC

Today I responded to a meeting request on HMSB with “The Commodore calling a council of Captains at sea. Quite the Nelson touch, eh?” and I’m not sure anyone knew it was a quote or the source. #oldwarfilms #spareslist #otdih #WW2

@tomisitt.bsky.social As they say, I saw this and thought of you… #FWW #maps #ww1

Some work in this, I can tell you. I am proud to present my new addition to the Long, Long Trail. Happy Christmas, family historians and military historians! #genealogy #WW1 #milhist #FWWhist #FWW www.longlongtrail.co.uk/researching-...
