I finally called my dipshit GOP representative Brian Babin and said "please support any bills that return the power of tariffs to congress and away from the president" it took less than one minute, it was cordial. It felt stupid in the moment but you gotta get over that for <1 minute.

Republicans fetishize manufacturing jobs because they connect masculinity with manual labor and we have a cultural memory of a good factory job supporting a family. What they’re forgetting is that it was the left’s unions and regulations that made those jobs good jobs and not backbreaking drudgery.

My 93 year old grandmother is wealthy enough to skip a social security check. But she would be on the phone and then down to the social security office the MOMENT she realized it was missing because surviving the Depression left its MARK on her relationship with money.
