"... it provides [renters] the efficient, reliable, potentially lifesaving heating and cooling that they might not get without the incentive program.” A heat pump upgrade can be life-changing. Oregon's lawmakers must step up and reinvest in this resilience program! #ORleg Read & Listen: @opb.org

Dirtier air and water. More expensive energy. Fewer jobs. More wildfires, catastrophic storms, and deadly heat. Brought to you by Trump and the fossil fuel industry. Attempting to take power away from states, counties, and cities.

A new community center and “climate resilience hub” in Chiloquin should be months underway right now. Instead, city officials are wondering if they’ll ever see the $16 million they were promised in December from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to build it.

The short answer is: not this much heat. Unless you like being literally cooked like a low temp rib roast by extreme summer temperatures, we're gonna need to use more clean energy. 🥵

The world is heating up. How much can our bodies handle? Scientists put people in a heat chamber for nine hours. Here's what they learned. The full article is here: grist.org/health/scien... #Heat #Health #Climate #Environment #PublicHealth

Climate action will continue in Oregon no matter who’s in charge in D.C. We will continue to develop innovative solutions to confront the climate crisis and build a brighter, more resilient future.

Utilities can blend hydrogen into Oregon’s gas lines — no notice, no oversight. SB 685 would set rules & protect ratepayers from footing the bill for risky experiments. Ask for a work session here: https://f.mtr.cool/adtoquibde #OregonClimate #HydrogenRisks #ClimateAction #SB685

I directed the Public Utility Commission to tell me their plan to help keep electric bills reasonable as we continue to do our part to fight climate change.

"The clean energy transition is already happening, but we have to make sure it works for everyone, not just those who can afford it." Read more about why #ORLeg should pass: ✅ Get the Junk out of Rates(SB 88) ✅ FAIR Energy(HB 3179) ✅ One Stop Shop 2.0(HB 3081)

Oregonians want lower energy bills and more resilience from climate harms, like extreme heat and wildfires. We're asking our state lawmakers to invest in climate resilience and incentives to help people make upgrades in homes and buildings. It's an investment in affordability and safety. #orleg

Today in PDX, if the temp hits 74, it will break a 60-year record. Our member Verde wrote about funding heating & cooling programs across Oregon. Read this to learn what we can do to build resilience against #ExtremeWeather: www.portlandtribune.com/opinion/opin... @buildingresilience.bsky.social

A bill before Oregon lawmakers right now aims to block the state's utilities from passing their lobbying and advertising expenses on to ratepayers.

The Oregon Legislature is holding hearings on three key bills in the 2025 energy affordability package. Our voices are essential to moving these important policies forward! #ORLeg www.climatesolutions.org/article/2025...

It makes sense to pay for the heat or power we use and for utilities to invest in efficiency, infrastructure, and clean energy. We should not be paying for things that promote the for-profit, corporate utility’s interests, like expensive lawyers and lobbyists and advertising. #orleg

A new study published last week found that long-term exposure to extreme heat ages you as fast as a smoking habit.

The imposition of Canadian tariffs is about to mess with grid reliability and energy prices. What an absolutely short-sighted and uninformed policy.

The fossil fuel industry knows hooking up gas to new buildings gives our kids asthma and irreparably damages our climate. They’ve launched an international campaign to make sure we keep doing it anyway.

"The sad truth is that along with death and taxes, periodic fossil fuel price spikes are one of the few things we can count on...Here are two things we know—Americans hate inflation, and fossil fuels cause inflation." thepowerline.substack.com/p/hate-infla...

Your regular reminder that the US air & water pollution laws passed in the 60s & 70s -- and the elaborate federal bureaucracy created to administer them -- constitute one of the most successful gov't interventions in history. WILDLY successful. The envy of the world.

Energy-efficient home upgrades can save the average American family thousands of dollars in bills. Today, Power Forward Communities announced $539M in commitments nationwide to build homes, support upgrades, and boost lending capital to unlock affordable housing: www.politico.com/news/2025/02...

Trump’s attack on the Bonneville Power Administration is just another example of his reckless disregard for Oregon workers and our clean energy future. Layoffs and resignations at BPA aren’t just numbers—they’re people, families, and the backbone of our region’s power grid.

We need more resilience in our electric grid, no doubt. Smart, dedicated people are working hard on that. The year-round benefits of electrification for people's homes and buildings far outweigh the risk of occasional outage. Interim programs for individual resilience like this put people at ease.

“Every gas pipeline has risks. The goal is that when hydrogen gas is introduced into Oregonians’ homes, there should be a minimum public notice.” @khanhphamforor.bsky.social Why is Oregon's largest fossil fuel corporation, NW Natural Gas, fighting to keep hidden what they're putting in our pipes?

‘It’s demoralizing’: Trump’s climate funding freeze has left tribes and community groups in limbo. Despite court orders to release federal grants, many organizations working on climate projects still don't have access to contractually obligated money. grist.org/politics/its... #Indigenous #Trump

“This isn't your dad's window air conditioner.” It's a game-changer for affordable & efficient home comfort. Apartment, or house, renter or owner, this is for anyone who wants lower bills. The Gradient heat pump cools like an A/C & heats even in subzero temps w/just a standard outlet.

The clean energy transition isn’t just policy—it’s personal. Net-Zero Dads are going all in on heat pumps, EVs & smart energy tariffs—slashing bills, maximizing efficiency & making electric upgrades a smart choice. The Economist unpacks this new trend: www.economist.com/britain/2025...

“There’s just been this long-term, consistent trend.” Heat pumps have been outselling methane gas furnaces for years & the gap is only widening. Better tech, lower costs & climate benefits are driving the switch. More from @canarymedia.com

Is your town prepared for a climate disaster? Wildfires, extreme winter storms, flooding, and more are becoming worse as the planet warms. Help Oregon get ready for disasters by asking your lawmaker today to invest more in the Community Resilience Hubs program. #ORleg
