💜 I would read that novel tbh. I find myself wishing for more books or media about this kind of life. it seems everything that happens to a woman, she's either 21 yrs old or a Crone.
(thank you, it was nice we were able to have such a close relationship at the end)

it's been up and down, moved back home with my parents in IL, working on a TEFL certification that has taken far too long thanks to my brain, but the last 1 1/2-2 yrs was helping my 91 yr old Grandma move, then helping w/full-time dementia caregiving for her (& she passed in September). so! You?

yup, took me longer, as I was working for a Christian company that took flack for pushing against him, but watching people I knew fold to his agenda was one thing, but those who JOINED UP because of HIM I will never understand

HELLO!! i am so happy to find you! I was just thinking of you the other day, hoping you were well, & reflecting on the spidersilk of online acquaintances, so this is such a happy coincidence to find you again! 💗

I know they were inferior but I saw the Hobbit in college with a friend and we went to IHOP after and it IS such a lovely and rare occurrence to know something is good in the moment

✨🤯 that's so fascinating! I'm just getting into floral embroidery, & I conquered the French knot, but your work is inspirational for a whole new dimension!

the French knots are stunning but I can't wrap my mind around the volume you got for the tiger & the roundness for the tail!! do you add shaped cotton & then stitch over it?

i once had a 6 yr old student who whispered to me, a cis woman, "I think you need to shave" with a giggle. I said back "ah but I don't, I spread hot wax on my lip & then pull it off, & it rips the hair follicles out!" & the horrified look on her FACE 😆

👏👌✨ people underestimate how necessary this kind of flexible thinking, and frame setting is necessary in elder care. It's basically just Improv. you're finding something they can yes and

amazing, moms with backbone are the real glue of the universe I'm convinced. (my mom IS a Christian but holds hippie views about large corporations & buying local & is constantly disappointed that everyone agrees with her, then immediately admits they got something from a fast fashion warehouse.)

yes arthur bell nichols was whatever, and yes her best friend's reaction being "she always WAS going to marry a great big ol brute" but her final words being "He will not separate us. We have been so happy!" always makes me tear up. I'm glad she got even 3-9 months of relational happiness lol

it does suck how fatal hyperemesis gravidarum was before IVs, but I can't begrudge her falling in love (or wanting to?) after living such a wretchedly lonely life, often out of duty to the garbage men in her family, but never letting go of her principles.

i just see a lot of teachers who have a particular Personality that feels antithetical to me but you carving out a space for kids to learn in an encouraging way that doesn't squash them feels like something I can aspire to 💜

sorry I will ride hard for my freak sister charlotte who grew up with such a repressed homeschooled childhood her dream of a bad boy could only be sanctified via his own repentance (her rebellion was saying "I promise it doesn't make you a bad Christian to not marry the puritan who tolerates you.")

i unironically love dune but it makes me giggle frank herbert was like "what if there were stern religious women sooooo powerful & hot & sexy that they were silent & only did telepathy & sex magic, whose idea of a savior is 'what if someone did exactly this but was a MAN.'"

what a glorious concept for a film. didn't even have to make it modern to make the clear moral "everyone is on vacation & young & gorgeous at the same time, watch out."

it's puzzling why I love this series so much, but it's really about how important it is to stick to your Principles, if you're going to rock the boat, it better be for a good reason, & no matter your struggle they can never take your panache.

each #2 has a different agenda but Globalism is kinda one of the main threats in The Prisoner, at least via FORCED compliance (as the Prisoner led an awfully cosmopolitan life before he was imprisoned.)
comment in response to

I love how much eventual Boomer mentality you can learn from this series, "independence over Anything", the most charismatic man never Relaxes at any point ever, the lack of struggle is a seductive weakness, & loyalty does not mean compliance.

love that Number 6 is So Defiant that everyone is in love with him. the line-reading on "I want him whole, body & soul" hot dang, Number Two, me TO--*a giant vibrating white beach ball crushes me to death*

skipping the intro sequence is acceptable in all cases EXCEPT the Prisoner. gotta watch all of it, creates an oddly hypnotic effect & also gives you all the information you need before each episode

yes! I feel like there's a lot of 50's Americana foods that are specifically the sort of textures she can't stand, like beef stroganoff, etc. (maybe if you bring spicy or different foods to potlucks people will pick up on it?)
