Yep and this used to be widely regarded as a left wing talking point here in the US but by January 2024 was what just about every single European diplomat was saying to the international press. Palestine divided the Atlanticists and the ICJ and ICC cases will continue to do so for yrs to come.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

I am angry at the GOP for being evil, and angry at the media for not covering this, and for the years of “have trans rights gone too far? Let’s debate that but never actually talk to any of them.” And I’m furious with people on the left who pretended Harris was the real transphobe in the race.

This is a great way of putting it because by the standards of presidential success that Biden himself understood (from the 1970's-90's, predominantly), he was a *tremendously* productive and successful president. The problem is that those metrics for success completely missed the moment.

biden was a great president except when it came to what he imagined to be his area of expertise (foreign policy), his electoral proposition (he is a white guy everyone likes), and the most important thing he was called upon to do (permanently incapacitate donald trump)
