I think a real big problem with government spending is that "debt" is something extremely different for poor people than it is for rich people. For poor people, debt is something you do out of desperation; it's a threat that you need to be constantly wary of because if you fuck up it'll destroy you.

It’s been a long fucking day, I’m tired, and I misspoke. Let me rephrase it in a more correct way. Fuck Hakeem Jeffries and almost every other elected Democratic official for forcing me to be the one to get arrested instead of them doing their goddamn job and being leaders.

elon musk at cpac was so fucking weird you guys I know this reads like a parody but I literally just wrote down what happened www.theverge.com/elon-musk/61...

probably Musk's greatest asset at this time is the total refusal at almost all levels of media and society to face squarely what is happening. it's just bouncing right off everyone

Raskin: "Elon Musk, you may have illegally seized power over the financial payments systems of the Treasury, but you don't control the money of the American people. The US Congress does that under Article 1 of the Constitution ... we don't have a fourth branch of government called 'Elon Musk'"

I think Americans, blessed with relatively stable government for a long time, assume there is someone, some adult, who will step in and make things right before the President does anything REALLY bad. There’s not.

I'm not dismissive of litigation, it's important and should be done and those jumping into the fire to do it very quickly have been doing good and crucial work. But if litigation is your *only* strategy, for *years* to come, then you're not an opposition party. You're not a political party at all.

I'm never going to forgive the people and politicians who sat silently while Trump sicced the entire federal government against trans people.

It would really be better if fewer people were out of their god damned minds

1. Breaking News: Donald Trump has signed an executive order targeting trans youth and teachers in schools who teach for them. It goes after "social transition" and threatens arrests. I will go through line by line, as I have the last 3 nights. Find the EO here: www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

I suppose my question is: if you set fire to one end of the rube goldberg machine that is the government, how long does it take for the average person to notice that the other end of the machine is no longer producing widgets?

Tonight, a departure: neither Stu nor I have seen REPO MAN (1984) & are about to change that

my ass is in Portland ME but my heart is in LA right now. Ahmanson bldg, Otis College

Sure, some notable people lost their expensive homes in LA But a lot more people lost their modest homes, their rented condo or apt Workers at the sandwich shop, baristas, food servers, cooks, supermarket & retail clerks, bank tellers, librarians, gardeners, janitors, etc have lost their jobs

Wow, every single post about fire in LA just disappeared from my FB feed. When I searched, I only turned up day-old posts from India.

One has to imagine the deep fear and insecurity at the heart of anyone with the compulsion to hoard absurd amounts of wealth.

Democrats are not ready for this moment. It’s so fucked up. How do you campaign on a guy being a dangerous fascist for MONTHS and then turn around and continue to abide by institutional norms like they won’t be destroyed on day one. I’m infuriated. I really am. We don’t deserve this horseshit.

One silver lining in all this is that the supervillains are starting to look like it so they can be easily spotted by anyone with eyes

One must imagine Baudrillard happy
