A4: We can (and should) model taking responsibility. It’s okay to let learners into our lives a bit and share about our own path of growth. Let’s tell our stories! #tlap

Thanks for joining us in #tlap tonight!! We’ll see you next week!

A3: Self awareness, listening and empathy is the biggest piece here. In all relationships if we can incorporate those 3 aspects it no longer focuses on blame but it focuses on responsibility and taking the next steps to heal and resolve the situation #tlap

A3: #tlap Try to look at the situation from different perspectives. How am I helping the situation and what can I do to improve the situation?

A4 Give them choices for how they demonstrate their learning. Let them have fun owning and showing their evidence, goals, progress, and growth. #tlap

A4: #tlap For a lot of the students, it’s guided practice. Sometimes the skills are not quite there yet and a little assistance may be helpful.

Q4 What are some small, practical ways we can teach our learners to take responsibility for their happiness, mindset, or personal growth? #tlap

A3: As an ed. consultant, I am constantly steeped in research. 1 thing is for sure: Science is not settled; it's always growing. I shift from blame by remembering this is true for us humans, too. May we never be settled, but always learning. That opens up space to say: "I was wrong." #tlap #just4you

A3 - I handle this by going into every situation knowing that the reality is I am always part of the problem. Relationships are human, humans are fallible, so there's both power and responsibility in knowing we all bring imperfections to the table. We can then share responsibility from go. #tlap

A3 Yes. It happens. Reflection on how we got here. What can I do differently? Acknowledge my contribution. Make sure to advocate for my needs better/set better boundaries in the future (for others of myself). It’s humbling, but inevitably leads to growth. #tlap

A2 our 5th graders did a community modeling project and 2 students found solar panels. After figuring out the circuitry they were charged with teaching the class. Spectacular outcome (and an led light city) #tlap

A3: What helps me shift? A best friend who calls me out on my crap, that’s what! 😂 Then, when someone I love puts me in my place, I can work to make things right. #tlap

A2 Anytime we can help our learners see that responsibility is a PATH to POWER rather than the result of it, we remind them that they are not just passive participants in this thing called life! They are in control. That power is theirs! It's yours too! ;) #tlap

I have helped many G6-G8 students learn Eng. when they came to me w/none. I saw them as knowledgeable humans & saw their other languages as assets. They didn't need remediation (you can't remediate what hasn't been built yet); they were learning something brand new. They owned their learning. #tlap

A3: Ohhhhh!! I have a podcast episode possibility related to this one. Stay tuned! #tlap #DaveBurgessShow

A1: Being RESPONSIBLE gives you EARNED power. I like that flipping it means you have to be responsible first. #tlap

Q3: How do you handle situations where you realize that you might be part of the problem? What helps you shift from blame to responsibility? #tlap

A1: Many assume you get the power first & then "have to be" responsible. However, this flip illustrates that effective leaders are responsible first, & power grows from there. When you are responsible and walk with integrity, people WANT you to lead. There's a big difference. #tlap #just4you #EDUsky

A1: When a person is responsible for something, they have the power to shape it how they see fit. It is vital to consider those in our charge (Ss or adults) when making decisions that impact them. We must consider individual needs within our groups. #TLAP

A1 - This is my jam as an Indigenous educator. A chunk of my time is spent on land based learning and a chunk is spent with students who are at risk of becoming statistics. Having the responsibility to care for the land and the people I share it with empowers me to make a real impact on both. #tlap

This is very powerful: "with great responsibility comes great power". This quote flips the whole notion of power to ownership. Your no longer being responsible for power but you are taking the leadership role and assuming the responsibility as you feel liable opposed to controlling #tlap

A1 So, full disclosure--I wrote a blog about this as it was inspired by listening to The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*** by Mark Manson on my evening run last week. Flipping that old quote is a game-changer for me. ➡️ www.tarammartin.com/flip-it-with... #tlap

A1 Responsibility and power go hand-in-hand. When you are responsible (good role model, just, kind, helpful), people look to you. This gives you "power" but not in a negative way, More empower, than power. #tlap

Q2 for #tlap
