Two faculty positions in Computational Biology in Cambridge - one of them jointly with @geneticscam.bsky.social.

We made a transgenic #reporter line for #eosinophils in #zebrafish! Will make a thread about this once it's past peer review, but here is the preprint for everyone who's interested. Stay tuned for more cool stuff we can do to study eosinophils in zebrafish.

Can't say much at the moment. Not a good feeling.

Great opportunity at UConn! Im looking for postbacs for students who want to go to medical school. Pls tag me and let me know if there are any :)

Alliance release 8.0.0 is now live. Release notes are here www.alliancegenome.org/release-notes

Big congrats to this year's awardees! Basic science matters more than ever - the awardees represent key aspects of what makes #devbio a central biomedical research endeavor of widespread impact. Applause!

For #zebrafish people - we have a joint @ZDMSociety @InfoIzfs webinar focused on single-cell tech coming up on February 20th. Featuring Yinan Wan, Jialin Liu and Loic Royer. Register here: www.izfs.org/education/we...

Hmm...

Check out our new preprint describing CiFi - a method that couples 3C and PacBio HiFi sequencing with low input requirements. We apply it to human GM12878 to better characterize chromatin across repetitive regions, as well as single insect samples (a mosquito and a Mediterranean fruit fly).

The Institute mourns the loss of R. Scott Hawley, PhD. A brilliant scientist, cherished colleague, and true mentor. Scott's contributions to our understanding of genetics and passion for training the next generation of scientists will forever be remembered. bit.ly/3WPqqYG

Why #devbio and basic research matter. And matter a lot. Even financially, if that needs to be the argument.

How did I not know there was a new The The album? Party like it’s 1983!!! open.spotify.com/track/3MIgCS...

NEW: Sources tell my office that Treasury Secretary Bessent has granted DOGE *full* access to this system. Social Security and Medicare benefits, grants, payments to government contractors, including those that compete directly with Musk's own companies. All of it.

Sadly, our colleague and friend Scott Hawley passed away this morning. He was an irreplaceable presence and force for good in the meiosis an Drosophila communities and will be sorely missed.

Just found out my hearing aid is tracking my daily activity and I cannot turn it off. Seriously WTF?

If you have been affected by the fires in LA, or are concerned about your ability to keep precious Drosophila strains going during the latest funding crisis, we will host your strains as a backup. Please email me. Please amplify. If you are also able to host fly strains, add your name as well.
