DOGE has been sending their mass emails from a misconfigured server, causing DOGE emails to fail SPF (Sender Policy Framework) validation. This means that agencies are probably marking DOGE emails as spam.

Thread. “Sent to the cornfield” is a nice metaphor.

This is the most wretched campaign of deliberate, explicit persecution the United States has perpetrated against a minority group in decades. Many of the most important people in politics and journalism are busying themselves trying to figure out how little to say or do about it.

It’s “print out your code and bring it to my office” time for anyone who followed the original Musk clusterfuck at Twitter.

Thread. Trump and his acolytes have already hacked away at much of the support structure for US government put in place after Watergate. As Don says, this relied in large part on norms rather than laws - an arms length relationship between the White House, main DOJ and the FBI, for example.

No side. ENG 16 SCO 15. Tight match. Finn Russell will be kicking himself after that match. However, he’s probably missing.

England are getting more possession in attacking areas but they’re going too often through narrow channels: the Scots are far more polished when they attack space. 53 minutes, still ENG 7 SCO 10.

i’ve never really bothered to learn about the memecoin world because it was so obviously crooked and fucked up, but this look at the argentinian memecoin libra and america’s own melania coin and just HOW crooked and fucked up these things are is absolutely fascinating youtu.be/Ud6GuH7gSDw?...

Half time at Twickenham. ENG 7 SCO 10. On territory alone the Scots ought to be 10 points up, but like France a fortnight ago they’ve created opportunities but lacked the killer instinct on a few occasions. Every time the Scots run the ball to the left England look vulnerable.

Rugby Union has to completely revamp the scrum. It’s no longer a useful contest between specialists, it’s a time suck invariably ended by a referee’s whistle for an infringement incomprehensible to nearly all spectators.

Jordan Peterson is another example of what I call a competency cosplayer. Informed people immediately identity him as an intellectual fraud, but uninformed people can fancy him an intellectual who flatters their unexamined prejudices.

No side. WAL 18 IRE 27. Commiserations to Wales fans, congratulations to Ireland fans. Fine scrap, that.

The attacks on DEI are a pretext for a much more radical agenda of reversing the gains of the civil rights movement, an objective the Trump administration is pursuing with zeal. A Great Resegregation. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

Half decent Six Nations game this. WAL 18 IRE 21 with thirteen minutes to go.

let me say that this is the classic “just asking questions” approach to delegitimizing the achievements of black people. and critically, you don’t even have to be a black person who talks about race. simply being black to these people means you are “obsessed with race.”

Illegally cutting cancer research and meals on wheels to pay for PR ads for themselves.

if you look at a bad thing that happened and assume, evidence-free, that it's because a Black person got a job they shouldn't have, you're not a "DEI skeptic," you're a dumb gutter racist

No matter how preposterous, the Times headlines nearly every Trump story as if it were written by the White House comms team.

None of this has anything to do with effectiveness, or “lethality,” or promoting “warfighters," or any other buzzwords. It is praetorianism, plain and simple, and it is an assault on our military and our democracy. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

Of the Chiefs of Staff, vice chiefs of staff, and judge advocates general of the three branches, Trump fired all the women and Black people.

So the President not only fired the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. He also fired the top JAGs at the Army, Navy and Air Force. Those are the lead people who determine what is a legal order and what is not. So if you're planning to do things that are illegal they're the most obvious obstacle.

This is so many words to say Trump fired the chairman of the joint chiefs because he’s black www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/u...

Side note. There are eight members of the joint chiefs. the chair is black. the CNO (navy) is a woman. the other six are white guys. chair and the cno got fired tonight.

today in breaking laws no matter how obscure, ladies and gentlemen, the Goldwater-Nichols Act

This brief exchange perfectly sums up the current state of the post-truth online information space.

Is bluesky more like holding court in a radicalized, kooky cult or is ejecting an acquaintance from your chateau in rural France for the sin of disrespecting Bari Weiss more like holding court in a radicalized, kooky cult?

CSPAN Caller from West Virginia: I’m a diabetic and I’m on Medicare. When Biden was in there, my insulin was $6 for a 28 day supply. I just went to CVS, it went back up to $80…

Thread.

I think there’s this tendency to assume Musk enters each agency with some kind of plan. But his office is 30 people, largely children, and the federal government employs millions. He spends half his time on drugs, tweeting, doing interviews. It’s all random noise www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

Yes, I think this is also the logic of tariffs. We are not going to have across the board 25% tariffs or whatever. We *may* get a situation where generally low tariffs are maintained only through case by case concessions and quid pro quos.

Somehow missed this: Musk posted the name, picture and financial disclosure information of the daughter of a Judge who blocked his funding cuts b/c she used to work at the Dept of Education. www.msn.com/en-us/news/p...
