Instead of pressuring every country to spend more on their military maybe they should all spend less

Solve the news crisis by automatically downloading daily news or a podcast onto everyone's phone line Apple did with that U2 album.

Mandatory voting but only for municipal elections

Oh look, it's me in Hansard calling on the province's finance committee to end autonomic tax exemptions for places of worship. #TaxTheChurch

Should churches get public funding? Ian Bushfield joins me to talk about religious privilege, secularism, and the fight for equality under the law. youtu.be/S6uWsnOTjTw

Yay @bushfield.ca !

Trying to cancel my monthly donation to the BCNDP and it seems no one answers their PAC email nor does anyone answer their phone line. Guess I just have to put them on blast.

this article by @geoffmeggs.bsky.social, the chief of staff to the former premier of this province, is riddled with factual errors, and attributes the increase in deaths from 2020 onwards to harm reduction strategies and policies to reduce the role of policing and not the UNREGULATED DRUG SUPPLY

www.theguardian.com/society/2025... Truly awful reporting here by The Guardian. The fact that 38 men in the manosphere thought that it was just banter and open debate shouldn't be reported as 'overblown fears'

Meanwhile Canada is eagerly making the same mistakes

There's probably no god but there's definitely a military-industrial complex and accelerating anthropocentric climate change, so maybe start worrying a little bit before we all lose our lives

Announcement: I will be on Carney’s neck www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

here's my piece about how much I loathe Schindler's List. broke some people's brains on reddit I guess. www.huffpost.com/entry/opinio...

100% - I know of no First Nation here that recognized - at any time - a local Metis people. The closest thing to the Metis experience in BC are the Hawaiians - who briefly created a distinct fusion culture, that was fully absorbed back into Native nations here by the mid 20th Century. 1

CMHO: "She said the problem must be dealt with by making sure the number of people who use substances and who have substance-use disorders is reduced." No. People have & will always use drugs. The problem is the supply is lethal. Deal with that and the crisis is over.

I had some pretty harsh words for the Chief Medical Health Officer related to the toxic drug crisis. I stand by every word of it. 10 years into the crisis and they’re still “perplexed.” Island Health should be re-orgged and its senior leadership replaced. www.timescolonist.com/local-news/v...

I'm not sure the right to defend yourself applies when you throw the first punch but apparently Canada thinks so. Not sure the argument will hold up in court but I'm not a lawyer.

Great piece from @wickdchiq.bsky.social on the Liberal government's border bill. 'Why is Mark Carney pushing a Maga-inspired border bill?' www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Canadians clutching their pearls about ICE barely know the Liberals are pushing through a bill right now giving the gov the ability to check your mail, get your IP and internet history, and makes immigration and asylum seeking way more difficult

i want to know how much war accelerates the climate crisis.

Just going to say it: Canada shouldn't have a king either #NoKings

Picking the side of COVID

Canada votes, with nearly everyone else in the world, to call for a ceasefire in Gaza and the Globe is still acting as CIJA's mouthpiece. www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/art...

Absolutely no mention of Muslims or Iranians. Because they clearly don't matter. Iran is the country being attacked right now ...you would never know it from this statement.

Going to wait here for the Rules Based Order to speak out against Israel's "preemptive attack."

Then they came for the Senators and well maybe it was finally time for some of them to speak up.

"Book bans driven by religious views are treading on unlawful grounds. While the stated goal is ensuring “age-appropriate school library materials,” the context suggests a potential departure from the government's duty of religious neutrality." www.bchumanist.ca/book_bans_ca...

I’m not sure how people’s argument that Carney is “better than the alternative” when the alternative lost his seat is a flex. Poilievre is irrelevant and using him as a boogie man to justify Carney’s love for dictators & atrocity is non-sensical. He is using your fear to govern poorly #cdnpoli
