Fiona and her family lost their home during Black Summer. She had just finished decorating her then two-year-old daughter's brand new bedroom. Sign the Australian Bushfire Survivor Declaration and stand with every bushfire-impacted community: bushfiresurvivors.org/declaration

Volunteer firefighter Barry was flown down to fight devastating bushfires in Wyndham in southern NSW. In the months that followed, he battled ongoing mental health impacts - an experience all too familiar to firefighters and survivors everywhere. Watch: www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3_f...

“The best action we can take is to pressure governments to seriously address climate change and implement meaningful solutions.”

Watch the powerful video and help spread the message. 🌏

Families across Australia are coming together to protect what matters most: their kids and their future. The Protect What You Love campaign is a call to action for urgent action on climate change; a message that resonates deeply with us at Bushfire Survivors for Climate Action. #ProtectWhatYouLove

Renewable energy - like solar and wind - is vital to reducing Australia's emissions. There's a lot of confusion how much space we'll need to generate enough renewable energy to power our homes, schools and workplaces. But this handy graphic from The Climate Council clears that up.

Five years ago, we experienced some of the most destructive bushfires in Australia's history.

We stand with wildfire survivors everywhere, especially LA this week. Yes it’s time for Big Oil (and coal and gas) to pay for the damage their product is causing.

Our CEO, Serena Joyner, joined Channel 10 yesterday to talk LA fires, bushfire preparedness, and cutting climate pollution produced by the burning of fossil fuels, to keep Aussies safe.

Watching the fires rage across LA feels all too familiar for many Australians—and heartbreaking. As bushfire survivors, we know the pain, fear, and devastation these communities are facing.

They knew this would happen, denied the science, delayed the transition & are increasing fossil fuel production to continue making record profits while thousands suffer the consequences. LA is on fire & Big Oil are the Arsonists. My piece in the Guardian today. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Thank you Greg Mullins, ex NSW fire commissioner & my ild Forest High school mate for naming climate change as one of the major causes behind these catastrophic fires in LA IN WINTER on abc news.

the reflexive "you can't say these fires are caused by climate change" argument is so boring. when a life-long smoker gets lung cancer, we don't spend our time dancing around "well technically we don't know what caused it, it might have happened anyway".

Shame on you ABC. Tell the truth #abc730 #auspol

It would be a mistake to think that everyone experiencing the worsening impacts of climate change will suddenly accept what needs to happen to arrest it. Misinformation and conspiracy theories will be deployed to muddy the waters as much as possible - looking at the comments in the US, it's working

the public will no doubt end up underwriting the insurance markets… but really it should be the fossil fuel companies.

LA is burning. When governments & communities deny human-made climate change & support fossil fuels, they are in part to blame. When people vote for tax cuts, they are voting to reduce public utilities & services including the capacity to fight fires & floods. We reap what we sow

We lost our home and everything we own in the Eaton Canyon fire. Climate change is real and it’s a bitch.

Jann spent a year and 50K on renovations, then she lost everything. As a marine biologist, Jann wants to see govt. action in line with science. ✍🏼 Share your story: bushfiresurvivors.org/myclimatestory Thank you Jann for sharing your story and inspiring others to act. #MyClimateStory #BlackSummer

Jo has just discovered what the Australian government is giving us for Christmas ..... and she's not happy.

The state of Victoria is ablaze with fires raging through the Grampians/gariwerd, wombat state forest near Macedon, my home of Creswick and the Gurdies in the south east. Perfect week for the Environment Minister to approve new monster coal mines and turbo charge climate change.

Seven quiet breakthroughs for climate and nature in 2024 you might have missed www.bbc.com/future/artic...

Angela Frimberger from Bushfire Survivors for Climate Action @bushfiresurvivors.bsky.social went to Westpac's AGM last week to ask the board a simple question: Why is the bank still financing companies developing more coal, oil and gas in a climate crisis? #westpac #climate

“Reversing anthropogenic climate change remains the urgent broad-scale solution” for protecting terrestrial biodiversity from megafires.

Oh my god. All the greatest hits are coming back. Has it ever been clearer that the coalition's nuclear power advocacy is just a flat-out pro-fossil project? www.abc.net.au/news/2024-12...

@cathywilcox.bsky.social brilliantly depicts the real effect of dutton's nuclear policy. under the coalition's plan millions fewer homes will install solar and existing household solar systems will be frequently switched off to ensure his nuclear plants hit their production targets.

Broken nature laws. “It shouldn’t be up to environment groups like ACF and our volunteer investigators, comparing satellite images on their phones, to uncover and put a stop to blatant nature destruction like this.” Jess Abrahams, ACF. www.newcastleherald.com.au/story/884822...

There's been a nation-wide increase in assaults of LGBTIQ+ people across Australia. Perhaps it isn't just anti-Semitism on the rise? Perhaps there's a general increase in hateful people being emboldened by the normalisation of arseholes like Trump? #VicariousPermission www.sbs.com.au/news/podcast...

It’s an important day for journalists writing about Dutton’s nuclear costings 💩. Today is the day you show if you’re a: 👉🏻propagandist for fossil fuels 👉🏻a stenographer who platforms manipulative lies unchecked, or 👉🏻Ideally, a watchdog who fact-checks and holds power to account. 🧐 Which will it be?

Incredible story. Paints a terrifying picture of how bushfires are changing. This one ‘fell from the sky’

Five years after surviving a fire that "fell from the sky", Donna shares her incredible story and urges governments to act on climate. ✍🏼 Share your story: bushfiresurvivors.org/myclimatestory Thank you Donna for your courage, and for inspiring us all. #MyClimateStory #BlackSummer
