Maybe not the best choice of words on the podcast tonight.

Jayson Tatum wants to be like LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant. He’s chasing Larry Bird, too. My story on Tatum’s big dreams and the guts required to speak those goals out loud: www.nytimes.com/athletic/615...

Do you like Mean Girls, Squid Game and basketball? Then @byjayking.bsky.social has a story for you! How Payton Pritchard became a 'F---ing legend' and maestro of the long-shot for the Celtics:

Thank you!

My man! Thank you!

“I think when we play like this, when we get downhill and create for each other and then we get the 3s, we have much more uplifting energy.” The Celtics played inside-out basketball last night. They were physical. And they liked the results. www.nytimes.com/athletic/607...

Joe Mazzulla says they’re in training camp form. The unit’s 3-point shooting percentages and defensive 3-point percentages are comically bad. The Celtics starters have been bludgeoned so far this season. Why? How? Huh? My story: www.nytimes.com/athletic/606...

Celtics’ 3-point dominance has vanished during slide: ‘We’ve gotta get those up’ www.nytimes.com/athletic/605...

Critical point for #Celtics fans to understand regarding the value of continuity:

If Mazzulla says we're at the "beginning of training camp with the starting five" I will defer to him, and am excited for the starting five's "preseason". As always, read Jay.

NEW STORY: Kristaps Porzingis felt more like himself Tuesday night in Denver. After a frustrating start to the season for him, and at times for his team, Porzingis sees good times coming soon. www.nytimes.com/athletic/604...

FROM LAST NIGHT

— The adjustment to go bigger. — A brilliant defensive second half. — Jayson Tatum’s explanation of why he’s grateful to have the three NBA coaches he’s had so far. My story from another good Celtics win, this time in Houston: www.nytimes.com/athletic/603...

Really good stuff from Jay on how Jayson wanted to set a tone for the team by taking on the toughest defensive assignment. It's an interesting comparison to Ant who said he was frustrated “because I'm wired to score the ball.”

FROM LAST NIGHT

Derrick White wanted to do more. Jayson Tatum asked for the Anthony Edwards assignment. After a down December, the Celtics sought to set a new tone at the start of a brutal January stretch. My story on a promising road win in Minnesota: www.nytimes.com/athletic/603...

“We’re playing inconsistent basketball.” “We’ve got to look in the mirror and man up.” The Celtics aren’t living up to their standard and believe they need to be better. My story: www.nytimes.com/athletic/601...

Read it for the kid.

Eighteen assists on 22 baskets so far for the Celtics. They're on pace to break their previous season high for assists (35).

That goaltending violation was just Neemias Queta's second this season. He led the Celtics with six last season even though he played fewer minutes than he has this season already.

Jordan Walsh now 5 for 22 from deep this season after missing his first two 3-pointers tonight. Tiny sample size, obviously, but he hasn't shot well at all in limited opportunities.

Payton Pritchard steps back SO FAR on his stepback jumpers. Must have retreated about eight or 10 feet there to create space for his last three.

Might have to call him B-Ball Luke the way he's scoring on Paul Reed right now.

The whole world needed that timeout. Not the best offense to start this game for either side.

The double alley oop would have been something. Alas, not to be.

FROM LAST NIGHT

NEW STORY: Marcus Smart and his wife brought their two-month-old son, Zayn, to the game. Smart wanted to introduce Zayn to Cs players and staffers. He wanted Zayn to be there to experience the love for Smart inside TD Garden, even if Zayn can’t understand it yet. www.nytimes.com/athletic/597...

FROM LAST NIGHT

NEW STORY: The Celtics used to have minimal answers on their coldest shooting nights. They moved to 6-0 this season Friday night when shooting less than 33.3 percent on 3-point attempts. My story on a physical, gritty win against the Bucks: www.nytimes.com/athletic/597...

Jayson Tatum said he’s thrilled to see Marcus Smart tomorrow. “The ultimate Celtic,” Tatum said. “He’ll always be a Celtics for life.” Tatum said he’ll probably “tackle the shit out of” Smart though.

That was a fun game of basketball. The Celtics move to 6-0 when shooting under 33.3 percent on 3-point attempts.

That was Giannis' 15th 3-point attempt all season. And his first tonight. Let the Celtics off the hook with that one.

These refs will not give Damian Lillard a continuation call.

Jaylen Brown does the too-small gesture to Giannis, then picks up a technical foul in the aftermath of the bucket.

The Celtics are 5-0 when shooting less than 33.3 percent on 3-point attempts. They entered halftime just 7 for 28 from distance.

The Celtics went 0 for 12 from deep in the second quarter. Not ideal.

The Bucks have Bobby Portis Jr. as the primary assignment on Derrick White right now. The Celtics haven't really gone after it, but they probably should.

🎥 FILM BREAKDOWN 🎥 Jaylen Brown #Celtics super cut (22 plays + notes) detailing his passing improvements. Shout out to @byjayking.bsky.social for the inspiration. crowdscout.net/p?p=019398bb...

Great cut there by Jrue Holiday to find the open space in the corner after his man left to help with Al Horford on the low block.

Khris Middleton's first shot back being a four-point play in TD Garden feels just about right. Long-time Celtics killer.

The Celtics are looking to bully Damian Lillard.

Not many dudes move Tatum like that. Giannis ain't weak.
