As we head back to DC for votes next week, my constituent, Teri, hopes we can work across the aisle to get things done. I’ll work with anyone – Democrat, Republican, Independent – to make life better for Oregonians.

It was great to sit down with Oregon REALTORS to discuss housing affordability and how we can work together to give everyone a fair shot at homeownership. On @ushousefsc.bsky.social, I’m focused on making housing more affordable, insurance more reliable, and mortgage lending fairer.

The best part of my job is meeting with all of you. Whether there are two of you or two hundred, I'll always show up. Read more about my day in Silverton! 🔗: oregoncapitalchronicle.com/2025/04/23/i...

A cup of coffee & conversations with Oregonians at Silverton Coffee Station – what could be better? ☕ Thanks to all who came out in Silverton! I’m looking forward to more Brews with Bynum stops across the district!

Donald Trump is shutting down programs that help our kids succeed – and he doesn’t have the power to do it. I signed onto an amicus brief to not only protect the Department of Education, but to also protect our democracy.

Caldera High School's vocal jazz group, "Inversion," beat out 20 schools last week to take home 1ST PLACE at one of the largest and oldest jazz festivals in the world🥇🎶 Congratulations on this huge accomplishment! You make #OR05 proud! www.centraloregondaily.com/news/local/c...

Pacific Seafood, which produces 2 MILLION pounds of fish and other proteins every month, is headquartered right here in Oregon’s 5th! Huge thank you to the staff for showing me around and showing off all the fresh catches of the day 🐟🦐

To me, it's simple. If the Trump administration can't deliver on lowering costs, creating jobs, and improving people's quality of life, it's a failure.

Quick stop at Mt. Angel Sausage Co. for lunch! I always enjoy the opportunity to try local restaurants, and this spot did not disappoint – the Hoke family gave an incredible behind the scenes tour, and the food was even better! Let me know some spots I should try next ⬇️

Today is Earth Day! I’ll be spending some time outside today enjoying the sunshine, and I hope you do, too! ☀️🌎 We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful state – let’s make sure we keep our water, air, and outside spaces clean for generations to come.

My top priority is lowering costs. That’s why I’m working to get to the bottom of how Trump’s tariffs are going to impact the prices we’re paying. My Protecting Families From Inflation Act does just that.

Did you know that wildfires can threaten our access to clean drinking water? Here’s Fire Chief Todd Gary with more on why it’s critical that we do everything we can to stop wildfires from starting and contain them when they do.

I sat down with Marion County constituents who’ve been locked out of their healthcare because of the fight between Salem Health & Regence. The stories they shared about the failure of our systems were flat-out unacceptable. I won't stop pushing for answers & accountability.

Happy Easter to everyone celebrating in #OR05! Wishing you a blessed and joyful day full of peace, quality time with the people you love, and hopefully some good food!

NeighborImpact provides food to 70,000+ Oregonians per month, but thanks to the Trump admin's funding freeze, they've had to cancel orders of dairy, eggs, & meat through July. I've demanded the USDA reverse the freeze so we can get back to helping people put food on the table.

Trump fired 1,500 employees at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau – that's nearly 90% of their workforce. This move leaves the fox to guard the hen house, & gives bad guys a leg up. We need to be investing in growing the economy, not turning it into the wild, wild west. tinyurl.com/trpdsxbc

I'll put my $$ on Oregon kids all day. They are worth the investment. They are our future. Congrats to Matthew and Colin, the first team of two to win the competition. Legendary 💪🥇 www.nytimes.com/2025/04/16/u...

It's #BlackMaternalHealthWeek, and as a mom of two daughters I'm sounding the alarm. Black women are over 3x as likely to die from pregnancy-related complications. Three. Times. Healthcare is a human right. Standing up for mothers and daughters everywhere.

“Regulators should ask more questions and look at what is happening in Marion County with Salem Health and Regence. Thousands of my constituents have been locked out of healthcare because the two giants can't come to an agreement. www.oregonlive.com/health/2025/...

I ran into Marissa, a constituent and nurse with CareOregon at the store. She is worried about cuts to Medicare & Medicaid, as her patients rely on these programs for care. I voted against cuts to the programs last week, and I'll keep fighting to protect them. #MedicaidMatters.

Quick check-in from #OR05 – subscribe to my newsletter to stay up to date with the work I’m doing on behalf of Oregonians. 🔗: Bynum.house.gov/subscribe

I was glad to meet with members of the Oregon Bankers Association to discuss my work on @ushousefsc.bsky.social to create jobs, and how we can work together to increase rural economic growth. As a freshman on the committee, I’m bringing new perspectives and ideas to get our economy back on track.

Trump is causing chaos and making life more expensive, and we were fired up about it in Sisters. Thank you to all of you who attended my town hall and shared your stories. As I've said before, if there ever were a beacon of hope in this country, it's Oregon’s 5th.

As promised, it’s time for another Brews With Bynum! I’ll be grabbing a quick sip in Silverton this Saturday from 1:00PM – 2:00PM PT – I hope you’ll come by to chat about what’s on your mind! RSVP here 🔗: www.eventbrite.com/e/brews-with...

Everywhere I go, I hear from constituents who depend on their Social Security payments. The 160,000 people in our district deserve to know that this EARNED benefit isn’t going anywhere. I’ll always fight to protect Social Security.

Shared a quick bite with the owners of Fresco and Fryed, a delicious family-owned food truck in Bend, and presented them with a Congressional certificate!  Highly recommend the tacos 🤌🤌

Every kid deserves a quality education – full stop.  That’s why I’m leading the IDEA Full Funding Act. We have to deliver for our kids with disabilities and ensure their access to a free and appropriate education.

Magdalyn, I'm so glad my office was able to help you get your Social Security issue resolved. If you or someone you know in #OR05 needs assistance with a federal agency, give us a call! (503) 387–8651.

100 days in! Here’s what I’ve been working on ⬇️

Sarah and Molly, young entrepreneurs from West Albany High School, are tackling the affordable housing crisis head on with their app, Nest Mate 🏘️! Congratulations on winning the Congressional App Challenge – you make me proud!

👋 Quick reminder! The deadline for the Art Competition is around the corner! 🗓️ Submissions are due April 21 Visit bynum.house.gov/services/art... for more details!

The SAVE Act makes it harder for eligible voters to vote by requiring documents like a passport. My amendment was simple: make the passport process faster! But House Republicans refused to consider it. I won’t disenfranchise voters, so I voted no.

Another trash budget that hurts Oregonians, another no vote from me.

Today the House is voting on a bill to increase overdraft fees to $35. Costs are high enough already – how out of touch can you be? I voted against it in committee, and I'm voting against it again today.

It was a beautiful weekend at Cline Falls State Park ☀️ The Deschutes River Basin is essential to the health, economy, and environment in Central Oregon – that’s why last week, I introduced the Deschutes River Conservancy Reauthorization Act to unlock funding to preserve and restore our rivers.

Costs are skyrocketing. The stock market is crashing. The American people can’t wait. I’m fighting back.

Today, I was joined by Ukrainian women from #OR05 who fled their homes following Russia’s first invasion. We must stand tall with them and for them to protect and defend Ukraine, its children, its families, and its democracy.

After votes last night, I passed some words of wisdom on the walls of the Capitol that speak volumes right now. The power of the people is stronger than the people in power.

What a great first stop on the Brews With Bynum tour! Thank you to WorthyBrewing for hosting us, and thank you to all of you that came out to share what’s on your mind. Where should we go next? Leave a comment below ⬇️

This weekend, I stopped by NeighborImpact’s new food bank in Redmond to meet the staff that keep the whole operation running. They told me that due to recent cuts made by the Trump administration, they’ve had to tell partners to expect up to a 20% decrease in food aid supply. 🧵1/2

Deschutes County, you brought the energy! Thank you for taking action and showing up – this is how we make change happen. Shoutout Sisters High School for hosting, and thank you Senator Broadman for emceeing!

Incredible show of community out in Sisters today. We sent a clear message to Trump and Elon: #HandsOff!!

FYI: Trump is out golfing today after giving us some voodoo Greek math equation while Americans are looking at their tanking retirement accounts wondering whose bird-brained idea massive tariffs were. Johnson should call us back to DC so Congress can overturn this foolishness.

Great to sit down with @olcv.bsky.social this week for a discussion on water management, mitigating wildfire risk, and our shared commitment to improving environmental health. We’ve all got to work together to protect the natural environment in #OR05 that we call home.

Thank you to everyone who RSVP’d to join me at Brews with Bynum this weekend 🍻☕️ I’m excited to meet you all. We have reached capacity for tomorrow, but don’t worry – we'll be doing many more! You can also come see me at my town hall tomorrow at Sisters High School at 1PM!

🚨TOWN HALL UPDATE 🚨 Due to votes, Senator Merkley will unfortunately no longer be able to join us in Sisters this Saturday. The town hall is STILL ON – I'm excited to see and hear from you all. I hope you'll join me!

This week, my office was able to help Joseph, a constituent from Milwaukie, get an issue with his son's Social Security figured out. If you or someone you know in #OR05 needs assistance, give our office a call! 📞(503)387–8651
