In my audio drama ALL PRAISE THE IKON the Chairman moves his tanks from the desert into the City and onto the Public Commons in direct view of the Senate to intimidate the legislature. Wrote it a couple years ago, based on Julius Caesar moving his army across the river Rubicon.

We *do* know the long-term effects: the creation of a vast, uneducated underclass who paid for college degrees but were fed slop instead of an education. Reliance on a system built to kill wages. The most egregious example of enshittification there is. Gift link: www.nytimes.com/2025/06/07/t...

Several years ago I had a contract w/ Unbound for one of my novels but it was canceled when I failed to meet the crowdfunding threshold. A deep disappointment.
