MURDER TAKES A VACATION by Laura Lippman is a great stand-alone mystery. A middle-aged woman finds a winning lottery ticket and her life immediately changes. #ewgc

My first book of 2025 is a memoir by the daughter of Erica Jong (Fear of Flying). HOW TO LOSE YOUR MOTHER focuses on an interesting mother-daughter relationship. It’s a quick read and I whipped through it. #ewgc

PENITENCE by Kristin Koval is a gripping novel involving family loyalties and dysfunctions. I couldn’t put it down. #Ewgc

Sneaking in one extra #libfaves24, LOVELY ONE: A MEMOIR by Katangi Brown Jackson. Beautiful writing.

My final pick for #libfaves24 is TELL MY EVERYTHING by Elizabeth Strout. I love this author, and I thought this one was one of her best.

My pick for Day 9 of #libfaves24 is SANDWICH by Catherine Newman. I have read and loved this author’s books (memoirs especially) for years. This is a real breakout novel by Newman.

My choice for Day 8 of #libfaves24 is ALL THE COLORS OF THE DARK by Chris Whitaker. Great mystery/thriller that takes place over multiple generations. Very engrossing.

My pick for Day 6 of #libfaves24 is THE PRINCESS OF LAS VEGAS by Chris Bohjalian. I love most everything this author has written, but this thriller really worked for me.

My pick for Day 5 of #libfaves24 is MARGOT’S GOT MONEY TROUBLES by Rufi Thorpe. Great novel about a struggling single mother who succeeds with her professional wrestler father’s advice. It’s a gem.

My pick for Day 4 of #libfaves24 is FRIENDLY FIRE: A FRACTURED MEMOIR by Paul Rousseau. The author survived an accidental shooting by his roommate. Between addressing traumatic brain injury and the lack of remorse shown by his shooter friend, this memoir is gripping and well written.

My pick for Day 3 of #libfaves24 is FIRST LIE WINS by Ashley Elston. I’m picky about thrillers, but this was another unputdownable read for me.

My pick for Day 2 of #libfaves24 is the memoir ONE DAY I’LL GROW UP AND BE A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN by Abi Maxwell. Quite an eye-opening view of a family with a very young trans kid in a small and small-minded town in New Hampshire.

Counting down my 2024 #LibFaves24 top ten reads in no particular order. Day 1 pick is HERE ONE MOMENT by Liane Moriarty. “The Death Lady” tells flight passengers when and how each one will die, and then things start to come true. Unputdownable!
