I thought I would have time to finish my women of quantum post for this week and maybe even research a bit more the first quantum computer in Spain completely running on European technology. But my son is sick again and that’s the reality of winter. Time for cuddles, books and naps. 👩🏻‍🔬

Such an important reminder

NEW: updated long-run gap in voting between young men and women in Germany: Gender divide continues to widen, but contrary to what is often assumed, young men continue to vote roughly in line with the overall population, while young women have swung sharply left. www.ft.com/content/29fd...

Just leaving this great thread here as a reminder of Microsoft’s history with Majorana-related qubits and big claims. I read the news and literally thought “is @spinespresso.bsky.social on Bluesky?” Luckily, he is. ⚛️🧪

Everyone at home has a cold, toddler is recovering, no mountain trip this week and a forced rest day today. At least there’s been progress in the toddler-cat relationship

oday is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Time for a little personal story. 🧵⬇️ 🧪👩🏻‍🔬

Currently nap trapped: toddler is sick, husband is coughing. We have a mountain trip with friends planned for the end of next week. Will we manage? I am not that hopeful

Today on the blog: High-Tc superconductivity: why it changed everything and why, 40 years later, we still don't know how it works. A story of ceramics, liquid nitrogen temperatures, applications and enduring mysteries. Read more here: clioagrapidis.com/2025/02/07/s... 🧪⚛️👩🏻‍🔬 #SciComm

Look at that, a smart way to cut the federal budget AND make the world a safer place. Who would have thought, cancelling the modernisation of the US nuclear weapon arsenal would actually amount to the promised federal savings... www.scientificamerican.com/article/elon...
