Helsinki and the herd looking very relaxed this morning! 🀩

Macchiato and his mum Marple are enjoying the winter roaming freely in the hills together 😍

We were so busy drying off from the rain yesterday that we forgot to share this weeks fantastic blog! πŸ’¦In this weeks blog, one of our wonderful volunteer's Emm, tells us all about her week of volunteering last February! Enjoy 🀩 www.cairngormreindeer.co.uk/2025/02/21/v...

Sunflower posing beautifully for #tongueouttuesday 🌻😝

Bringing the herd in for breakfast the other day. β˜€ At the moment our reindeer are out free-ranging in the hills, each morning we find the herd and bring them to one of our many visit locations ready for our daily hill trips. 🀩

Last month Sheena and Amy had an adventure in the hills, moving a group of our free roaming reindeer. Amy took lots of photos so made it into a blog for all to read! Take a look here: www.cairngormreindeer.co.uk/2025/02/14/a...

Sundae is such a pretty lass! She is currently free roaming in the mountains in a herd which includes her big sisters Morven, Dante, and Florence! She will turn three years old in the spring and is growing in confidence with age. She is friendly and enjoys her food! 😍

Kuksa is one of the sweetest and friendliest of last year's calves. In 2024 all our calves were named on the 'Teas and Coffees' theme. A Kuksa is a traditional, Sami wooden cup, perfect for drinking coffee. β˜• (Directly behind Kuksa is her mum, Peanut, and to the right is Tetley)

Mississippi has been DELIGHTED to welcome back our visitors this weekend! 🀩

What a day! The first day operating from our NEW building! Thank you to everyone who came on the Hill Trip or popped into the Paddocks or shop. Here is a selection of photos from a truly special day! 🌟πŸ₯°

Tomorrow we will be welcoming folk into our NEW Reindeer Centre! πŸ₯³πŸ€© Hill Trips will be running as normal, and for half-term (8-23 Feb) we will have reindeer in the Paddocks. Please note the Paddocks & Exhibition is a work in progress! See here for more: www.cairngormreindeer.co.uk/2025/02/07/n...

Ochil is a friendly lass who LOVES her food - no doubt she's looking forward to handing feed again when we resume our daily Hill Trips THIS Saturday!πŸ₯³ Tickets go on sale 30 days in advance: https://buff.ly/3Eo3Kby Please note we will be CLOSED for staff training on the 6th of March.

The last Friday of the month means it's time for January's photo blog! Lot of reindeer and a few dogs too! What's not to love?! 😍 www.cairngormreindeer.co.uk/2025/01/31/p...

The wonderful Holy Moley enjoying the snow this afternoon! πŸ€©β„

FEATURED REINDEER: Jimmy Born in 2021, Jimmy is a such a lovely lad that we used him as one of our breeding in bulls last autumn! Fancy him being 'your' reindeer? How about adopting him - you could get a free admission ticket each time you visit πŸ˜ƒ More info here: https://buff.ly/4aBo6KA

Mangetout looking awesome in a snow shower yesterday. She had a pretty epic mask of ice forming on her face - reindeer in their element! πŸ€©β„

The herd were in their element today with all the fresh snow! ❄️❄️❄️ Here's Orinoco leading the way with Pukka, Pinto, Sika, and Florence following on behind her. Orinoco will be two years old in the spring, she loves her food and is often one of the first reindeer to arrive at the feed bags!

The weather is WILD today! We'll catch up with the herd when Storm Γ‰owyn passes but the reindeer will be grand in their thick winter coats & hanging out in a sheltered spot! Meanwhile we're tucked up in the office dreaming of a winter's day like this... www.cairngormreindeer.co.uk/2025/01/24/a...

The lovely Brie on #tongueouttuesday πŸ˜›

Check out this article from the fantastic team at Logie Timber who provided the larch & douglas fir for the cladding, boardwalks, and fences! 🀩The Paddocks & Exhibition is still a work in progress but things are getting exciting! logietimber.co.uk/case-study-c...

Pinto with the white face will be five years old in the spring and her daughter Orinoco on the right will be two. The pair are still bonded and are often found side by side. They were both eating from the same pile of food but thankfully decided to look up at the same moment to get this pic! πŸ“ΈπŸ˜

This week's blog is FULL of photos of our cold and snowy start to 2025! The reindeer were in their element! ❄ ❄ We've now had a big thaw and the snow has gone... for now... www.cairngormreindeer.co.uk/2025/01/17/a...

Calling the herd down for their feed today! 🀩 It was a windy day on the hill but if you listen carefully you might just catch Fiona calling πŸ’¨

We've been sent a lovely podcast from Kathi Kamleitner, who visited last Februaryand took part in one of our Hill Trips out to visit the free-ranging herd. It's a lovely listen! You can listen to here:

Zambezi is almost 2, she's one of the largest of the 'rivers of the world' cohort. πŸ’ͺ Female reindeer's antlers are much lighter than the male's. They can keep them all winter, after the bulls cast them. Giving the females an advantage and ensures they get the best of the food whilst pregnant. 🀯

For much of the year our 'leucistic' reindeer stand out like sore thumbs on the mountains, but in the winter sometimes they are nicely camouflaged! Leucism is a genetic condition causing loss of pigment, and we have three half-sibling reindeer with it - Mr Whippy and Vanilla here, and 99.

So how did our newbie 'Christmas reindeer' get on during the festive season just past? Really well is the answer! www.cairngormreindeer.co.uk/2025/01/10/n...

Our reindeer are now in their full winter coats, ready for the coldest part of the year. We've had a fair bit of snow fall over the last week and this is perfect for reindeer. ❄ Here you can see GlacΓ©e with a snow covered nose and forehead. Her coat is so insulative that the snow wont melt. 🀯

Nuii's delighted with all the recent snow that we have had❄️She's one of the sweetest reindeer in our herd and looks just like her mum, Peanut! 😍

The lucky winner of Sherlock's antler prize draw was... Fiona Reynolds! πŸ₯³ The prize draw was a great success, so THANK YOU EVERYONE who entered! The money raised will go towards the new Exhibition, work on which is on-going behind the scenes here 🀩

Reindeer are generally not affectionate animals, unless it’s a mother & her calf, or in this case an almost 2-year-old & her mum! πŸ₯° Zambezi & Hopscotch are still close and are often found roaming in the hills together.

The very first blog of the year is a lovely one, all about the wonderful old girls in our herd! πŸ₯³ Also a wee reminder to everyone that we will be CLOSED from Monday 6th of January until Friday 7th of February, reopening on Saturday 8th of February. ❄ www.cairngormreindeer.co.uk/2025/01/03/t...

In 2022 we named all of our reindeer calves after icecreams 🍦 Imagine our delight, when at a Christmas event, to be able to introduce the handsome Mr Whippy to a Mr Whippy icecream truck! 🀣

Left it a bit late to buy a present for someone...? 😳 Oopsie... A voucher for Hill Trip tickets for the recipient to book in at their leisure?! This comes in an email that you can get to the right person in time...! ⏰🀫 www.cairngormreindeer.co.uk/gift-voucher...

Mocha and her mum Vienna on a recent Hill Trip. They're both gorgeous girls and after the Christmas holidays they will be heading out to roam freely in the hills for the remainder of the winter 😍

Cassie recently got interviewed by The Press and Journal! Here is the result - a lovely festive article all about what it's like working with the reindeer herd! πŸŒŸβ„οΈ www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/news/high...

πŸŽ‰ Today is a big day - our 500th blog! πŸŽ‰ With a few exceptions we've published a blog every Friday since April 2015! This week's blog is the 2nd instalment from Lisette, where she writes about her experience working with reindeer & Highland cows. Enjoy! 😊 www.cairngormreindeer.co.uk/2024/12/20/d...

Macchiato and his mum Marple on a recent Hill Trip. Macchiato is the oldest of this year's calves and is proving to be very friendly, just like his mum! 😍

Andi and Irish busy checking their 2025 calendar 😍 We're down to our last box of calendars so grab one before they go. They are sure to put a smile on your face with 12 seasonal photos of our lovely herd, order today to arrive in time for Christmas πŸŽ„ store.cairngormreindeer.co.uk/product/cale...

Our CHRISTMAS FUN bookings are now online from the 21st-24th of December. We are not in our new building, but we've got WONDERFUL reindeer, herders to teach you about them and our paddock is decorated with BEAUTIFUL trees from Cairngorm Christmas Trees πŸŽ„ www.cairngormreindeer.co.uk/christmas-fun/

Did you know that reindeer herder Lisette also looks after a beautiful herd of Highland cattle?! She's written this wonderful blog, full of photos of both reindeer and coos!😁🀩 Read part 1 here: www.cairngormreindeer.co.uk/2024/12/13/d...

Meet Pukka! 🀩 This pretty lass is now 7 months old and already has serious attitude, especially if her breakfast isn't being delivered quick enough! She's grown the biggest set of antlers of all our calves this year, go girl!

Morse looking handsome on this morning's Hill Trip! β„οΈπŸ˜ He's a friendly lad & grew enormous antlers again this year. Morse has been a breeding bull but this year he's joined the Christmas teams! He's trained to walk behind the sleigh - those antlers are far too wide for him to pull it this year! πŸ˜‚πŸ›·βœ¨

FEATURED REINDEER: Borlotti! Christmas is nearly here - need a last minute pressie for anyone? How about an adoption - Borlotti is a super sweet wee reindeer! Last guaranteed 2nd class post for the UK is the 18th... what are you waiting for?! cairngormreindeer.co.uk/adopt/

We're DELIGHTED to announce that we have welcomed visitors into our new Paddock area for the first time yesterday! We've not got our Exhibiton yet but we do have 6 lovely reindeer, herders and Santa πŸŽ…. We'll be open each weekend with tickets available a few days before on our website. πŸ₯³

Friday means Blog d.... um. *Saturday* means Blog day this week!!! (it was a *very* busy day yesterday... no time for social media). Some beautiful photos of the reindeer here, taken throughout this year 😍 www.cairngormreindeer.co.uk/2024/12/06/a...

In winter calves are allowed to eat out the feed sacks before the rest is put out for the herd. They've cottoned on to this quickly and are hot on our heels every morning - so much so that this photo makes it look like we only have miniature reindeer in the herd! That or Fiona is *very* tall... πŸ€”

Hands up who fancies getting hold of this ENORMOUS set of Sherlock's antlers, for the princely sum of just Β£10???!!! πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ Our prize draw is running until Dec 31st, so pop over to the website to buy a ticket(s) and just maybe YOU'LL be the lucky winner! www.cairngormreindeer.co.uk/prize-draw-f...
