Ahead of today's 2024 Olympic gold-medal rematch between the #USWNT + Brazil, we're back with the @espn.com Big Board. The exercise? As usual: What would the U.S. roster look like if the World Cup started TODAY, factoring injuries, absences and all. Plenty will change in the coming months.

I've been thinking about this a lot. Also, don't forget: they finally scrubbed mentions of Black people and women from federal government websites too, which means it was all worth it. Anyone tired of all the winning yet? Maybe I'll poll everyone I know who voted for him!

I wish people knew their own email addresses. I'm worried about the Caitlin Murray who never got the PDF of her Wexford Bus ticket. I hope the Caitlin Murray trying to see a show figured out how to log into TicketSwap. I'm annoyed at the Caitlin Murray who buys crap from the TikTok Shop constantly.

ESPN is hiring a full-time associate soccer features editor based in Bristol, CT. For someone with a year or two of experience who is a quick learner and a team player, it's a great opportunity. And you'll get to work with me, how exciting! Apply here: disney.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/disneycareer...

Oh hey it's almost the end of the year! Let's highlight some of my favorite articles I worked on for ESPN FC in 2024, starting with my collaboration with @lizzybecherano.bsky.social on the cultural push-and-pull for Mexican-American dual-nationals www.espn.com/soccer/story...

Wishing everyone a happy holidays! Feels weird to have no jokes or hot takes - but just sincerely hope everyone has a nice holiday, wherever, however and with whomever they spend it. 😊☃️🎄🎉🥰

The bidding process that gave Saudi Arabia the 2034 World Cup was a sham. Gianni Infantino and FIFA don’t give a damn about human rights, their own rules or anything else so long as the Saudis keep those checks with all the zeroes coming, www.usatoday.com/story/sports...

Network Television Audiences - 2024 U.S. Soccer Professional Finals 1. #NWSL - 967,000 (CBS)* 2. #USLChampionship - 431,000 (CBS)* 3. #MLS - 427,000 (FOX) * - Most-Viewed Games in League History Seems like something to talk about. www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Articles/202....

No one wants a men's Club World Cup but that isn't stopping Gianni Infantino and the Saudis from wasting a lot of time and money on it. Hey fellas, how about prioritizing a women's competition that people actually want?! www.espn.com/soccer/story... Good shout by @marcotti.bsky.social

NWSL final averaged a record 967,900 viewers on CBS — 18% increase from 2023 final (816,800) and 6% jump from 2022 (915,000). Audience Saturday peaked at 1.1m. Doesn’t include Paramount+, which would’ve pushed it over 1 million. Thanks to NFL lead-in, skills challenge on tape Sunday drew 1.5m.

Yep. Or if it wasn't simply for "fun" and you're supporting Trump, why not own it? Seems cowardly to send the message but then back off and pretend it was just "fun." My guess? He wants to support everything Trump stands for (yikes), without having to justify or articulate why - or risk backlash.

Inter Miami & Tata Martino part ways, sources tell ESPN: www.espn.com/soccer/story...

NWSL championship TV details Saturday: 90-minute pregame show begins at 6:30 pm ET on CBS Sports Golazo Network. CBS and Paramount+ pick up the show at 7:30. Match is listed as an 8 pm start. Kickoff: 8:14 pm ET. Trophy presentation on CBS/Paramount+. Postgame show: CBSGN.

I'm sure some people did enjoy Pulisic giving a nod to Trump with his goal celebration. Others might be surprised, not being aware that Pulisic's social media likes for a long time have suggested he's a MAGA guy, like in 2020 when he liked Seth Jahn's Instagram post about shooting antifa...

This is always such an interesting project @caitlinmurr.bsky.social and her ESPN crew do. I find it to be more accurate than Ballon d’Or and FIFA best list. Exhibit A: Naomi Girma not only makes the cut, she’s No. 2. (Will never not be salty about her Ballon d’Or snub) www.espn.com/soccer/story...

This is incredible: www.espn.com/video/clip?i... It's so cool to see the players excited about ESPN FC Women's Rank, a project I've run the past two years and at times has driven me crazy. She is right: we didn't give her a trophy last year. 😂

Hello to all who left the white supremacist platform formerly known as Twitter! 👋 I left 2 years ago, came back for the 2023 World Cup, then left permanently. I promise you'll be ok without it. Trying to follow everyone I used to follow there. Apologies to anyone I miss, but excited to chat here!

This is great work from ESPN FC. The 50 best women's soccer players in the world, ranked: www.espn.com/soccer/story...

Welp, we did it - we polled a bunch of coaches and GMs to name the top 50 women's soccer players in the world: www.espn.com/soccer/story... This was a massive project that took me months of stress and wrangling to make happen. Please check it out and share it!

btw: i do think we gotta treat this like baby twitter so we gotta bring back Follow Friday. #FF for the kids who don't know: every friday, tag your post #FF and list a few accounts you recommend people follow. helps everyone.
