Truly one of the internet's greatest personas.

YOUNG MAN, there's no need to feel down i said YOUNG MAN, pagliacci the clown you can SEE HIM he is playing in town you should go and have a good time

They made a whole set with a draconic ninja and BOY is this a no. #fabtcg

Retro Gaming last night.

this is a dystopia these are the things that happen in dystopias if you'd put into an SF novel 20 years ago that people helped others avoid brutal police raids by holding up handmade signs in online video while cheerily talking about cats... that would be a dystopian novel

Interesring false theory about -Trump’s economic policy from Kaminska here. He’s not creating national capitalism, he’s attempting state capture by the presidency where his political power determines the winners and losers in the “market”. This will end badly and we’re best off out of it 🧵

"[...]The last thing the EU should do is water down enforcement in the vain hopes of placating Trump and his tech 'broligarchy.' Instead, the EU should be doubling down on its digital rulebook." Very well said @maxvonthun.bsky.social & Varg Folkman 💪💪

TikTokers so angry at the US and determined their doomerism that they're reacting to videos of influencers in Tier 1 Chinese cities having nice things by declaring China to be a standard of living paradise are just Tucker Carlson visiting Moscow, but leftishly.

I honestly think we are experiencing the end of the internet as those of us born in the 20th c understand it. Smaller, siloed communities like discord servers and newsletters will persist, but the idea of the global public square is dead, as is “the information superhighway.” VCs killed it.

I appreciate nothing matters and double standards are just how we roll now, but if major political leaders were accusing the right of being IN FAVOR OF CHILD MOLESTATION (!!!) we would get fifty thousand op-eds from very serious people scolding us for radicalizing them through meanness.

it genuinely sucks that basically nothing on the internet works well anymore. search? barely works. social media? filled with garbage engagement-bait designed to game the algorithm. news websites? pages that refresh at random or so covered in video ads that it’s impossible to read stories

He wants to be Citizen Kane - and he's ended up as Citizen Kane

Happy New Year!

The scale of the decline of Google search in quality, relevance, usability and more should have triggered a full-scale alarm in Alphabet’s boardroom months ago. The fact the company is just plodding on while its core product is visibly worse than it was is a disaster.

Yes it's a plagiarism machine meant to put us all out of work and enrich the worst people alive and yes one request expends more energy than it takes to power Buffalo for a week, but more than that anything to do with AI is just corny dork-made shit. It fucking sucks and so do you if you use it.

Every time - every single time - you watch Muppets Christmas Carol you realise it is a greater work of genius than the time before.
Verily: it is the Ghost of Christmas Present of films.

Gonzo's delivery of the single greatest line in film history is made infinitely better once you realise it is an EXACT rendering of Charles Dickens' own emphasis in the original story.

This may be one of the (if not THE) best written article about Flesh and Blood I have ever read. Great intro and great strategic insight from @simonnielsenmtg.bsky.social. I recommend anyone involved with or wanting to get involved with @fabtcg.com reads this. #fabtcg

A long, angry, extremely articulate rant about why all technology is so fucked up nowadays. And it's just correct, in a way that really does nail down the exact feeling of being miserable using the internet.

Well this is grim

For those interested here’s the Romanian Constitutional Court decision re presidential election published in the official Monitor source: Romanian Official Journal as identified by @jakubjaraczewski.bsky.social

"the fight against the far right must also, even primarily, be a fight for liberal democracy. It must be positive rather than negative, proactive rather than reactive. It must win over those parts of the elites and masses that either don’t like or don’t understand liberal democracy" This

Utterly refreshing to be able to use social media to channel expertise on breaking news straight into my eyeballs.

In light of the martial war declaration in South Korea, here are some people you should follow for informed analyses & news about the developing situation. Koreanists: go.bsky.app/U3Nm5FX Korea watchers: go.bsky.app/9SrguSU Korean studies scholars: go.bsky.app/8nRZ5tp + @koreajoongangdaily.com

the instant and society-wide push to generative AI has been extremely instructive to show that the CEOs of every single corporation and institution spend every day extremely furious that they have to pay people anything at all to extract value from them

In Amsterdam for a #fabtcg Skirmish. Once again surprised Chappell Roan hasn't sued.

Finally summoned up the courage to get a tattoo, inspired by The Fox from @worldsbeyondnumber.bsky.social. A reminder to follow his wisdom and not care what people think as much, and also a nice thing towards a long history of Nerd Hobbies on my end. So pleased with it.

The Menswear Guy is perhaps the only good thing to come out of the downfall of Twitter, and now he's over here dropping classics such as 'actually the reason Tokyo is so fashionable is not Orientalism it's about dense, walkable cities and low rent'. Just absolute peak, love it.

never seen anyone disprove malcolm gladwell more thoroughly than elon. he has spent so much more than 10,000 hours posting and he hasn't gotten even a little bit better at it lol

Social Media must be overthrown and replaced by Social Persia, which will in turn be conquered by Social Macedonia.

Honestly, it is just smoother and better at this point. Did it do this by just copying twitter from a few years ago? Yes. Does that matter? Not really.

It's a weird thing - I'm definitely interested in trying DnD 2024, but feels like we have to tie up all my existing DnD campaigns first otherwise our collective campaign brain will get absolutely scrambled. But then at that point I think we'll be in the mood to try something else? #ttrpg

Hello all: It is with a heavy heart that I remove my Starter Pack of "Trustworthy Mesopotamian Copper Ingot Merchants Within the City-State of Ur." I have been informed about some pretty unfortunate oversights on my part and ultimately platformed some creators who should not have been platformed.
