Trump is not done attacking our elections. He and his supporters plot every day to undermine the right to vote. They are constantly looking for opportunities to exploit weaknesses in the election system. This is their top priority. The question for us is whether it is ours as well.

One hopes people are paying attention to some of this…. But then again, how do you think we got into this mess in the first place??!!

They’re in such a cult bubble that they can’t understand why so many free-thinking people voluntarily give of their time to oppose him.

Again: it is supposed to be commonly accepted non partisan morality that “id rather let a hundred guilty men go free than imprison one who was innocent” but this administration and its party are gleefully inverting that premise and then some

a sampling of the Trumpocalypse news stories on front page of WSJ this morning - where one rich NY retiree in Florida is quoted, prominently and without any pretense that there is a counterpoint to his assertion, saying: “Trump fucked us”

Analogies are never perfect, but this one is instructive. If you’ll indulge me: What would you call it if a German government ordered books from Jewish authors removed for being “subversive” and “anti-German” while having no problem with white supremacist literature? Because that’s what this is.

In the US, 79% of women in opposite-sex marriages say they took their husband's last name: www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/... This is relevant as the Senate takes up the SAVE Act, which critics say could make it harder for these women to vote: www.npr.org/2025/04/13/g...

Two weeks ago I did a thread on how the Founding Fathers declared independence from the crown for behaving literally the same way as the Trump administration. It's getting worse and Americans need to connect today's events to this founding document.

Every thing you do, no matter how small, to remind people that the wannabe dictators are actually sad, scared, fallible little boys is helpful. The more we laugh at them, the less fearsome they are and the easier it is to wrest power back from them. Also? These messages are effing hilarious.

Statement from Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro: "Last night at about 2AM, my family and I woke up to bangs on the door from the Pennsylvania State Police after an arsonist set fire to the Governor’s Residence in Harrisburg." State police are investigating the arson.

How much did he pay this quack for this opinion?

Booker: "This isn't just about Mr. Garcia. This is about every American understanding that this president is making an assault on the due process rights that are afforded to people in our country ... you cannot disappear people off American streets."

Correct

here's today's post: "Bill Maher is very sad because you hate him. boo fucking hoo" — read the room, asshole. thanks for reading, and please sign up for my daily newsletter so you never miss a post —

Why?

The United States is the richest country in the history of the world. But who benefits from those riches? Consider: the richest 10% of Americans hold nearly 70% of the nation’s wealth – while the bottom 50% hold just 3%. See the problem?

@sanders.senate.gov is at the podium at this moment...

My law firm is currently litigating 49 voting and election cases in 21 states. States with the most cases: AZ, GA, NC, NV, FL, LA, PA. I expect new cases will be filed this week.

Trump tried to bury this story on a Friday night, but it’s extremely important: He’s planning to take land on the border controlled by the Dept. of Interior and sign it over to Dept. of Defense so migrants “would have trespassed on a military installation,” resulting in harsher punishment.

How the Republican Party became pro-Russia--it wasn't just about money, ideology was also important. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/12/m...

"On Tyranny" is a #1 NYT bestseller again. I wish the moment were different. But I’m glad the book is useful. And grateful for all the kind words about putting the 20 lessons to work. snyder.substack.com/p/twenty-les...

100%. It really is time to go there. Again.

Very fair requests by attorneys for Abrego Garcia⬇️ Needed transparency for all the detainees unlawfully sent to El Salvador torture center. - compel government to produce written documents on agreement with El Salvador - require government officials to appear as witnesses before district court

We are witnessing an outright theft attempt by 4 Republicans on the North Carolina Supreme Court An effort to disenfranchise voters in only certain counties-WHO SERVE IN THE MILITARY or reside overseas The decision brings great dishonor to the Court. This blatant attempt at vote theft cannot stand

I'm not saying journalists should never interview admitted propagandists. There are journalistic reasons to do so. But if we do, we must be prepared to -- in fact it is our duty to -- challenge vociferously all unsubstantiated claims. Otherwise, we ourselves become propagandists.

This is a concession by the U.S. government that its “arrangement” with El Salvador is irrevocable. To me this has to be grounds to argue that the arrangement itself is unconstitutional under the Fifth and Eighth Amendments

Great news, everyone. A surveillance company started by Peter Thiel is part of the hackathon playing with our data at IRS. www.wired.com/story/palant...

Absolutely the right message from Eric Holder. For all the people who sacrificed, we've got too many people today who jawbone about it, but now that it's time for them to step up, they are looking for the next cocktail party —and saying The People need to rise up to save the country. #OnOurOwn
