Lenvatinib + Pembrolizumab in Advanced Endometrial Cancer The LEAP-001 trial shows lenvatinib + pembrolizumab did not improve PFS or OS over chemotherapy in first-line pMMR aEC and had higher toxicity (79% vs. 67%). #EndometrialCancer #Immunotherapy #Oncology @oncoalert.bsky.social

Will do a rundown of ctDNA in GI cancer trials soon. But the short story is that, while this is a very promising prognostic marker, there are distinct limitations in its predictive usage. That is, the data do not yet support definitive decision making based on ctDNA with some important exceptions

Teaching high quality critical analysis of scientific work is more important than ever, given the foundations of scientific progress are under attack. Bookmarking this paper for a later read to find out more.

It is necessary but not sufficient for us to provide high quality medical science communication. If public policy is causing medical harm to patients, regardless of whether they are directly in your care, it is your (our) responsibility to speak up. Healthcare is fundamentally political

De-escalation based clinical trials are critical to safe medical care.

Oral presentations at @nanets.bsky.social #NANETS24 ongoing. Two young/early career researchers, Lizeth Estrada (med student at UCSF School of Medicine) and Dr. Rushabh Gujarathi (post-doc scholar at U of Chicago). Both presenting for the first time at a conference. The future is bright! #NETsSky

The Twin Cities are incredibly bike-friendly. I'm continuing to bike through the winter and will ride as often as I can. Saving the world one commute at a time!

Many children of the '80's/90's remember actor Dave Coulier from the show "Full House." He recently shared his diagnosis of stage 3 lymphoma and his family history of cancer. In this @usatoday.com article, I was able to share some thoughts on cancer genetic testing. www.usatoday.com/story/life/h...

On day 2 of #NANETS2024 I think it's a good time to do a first look at placebo in clinical trials. This is a contentious topic that I'll try to approach with sensitivity and answer two questions: 1. What is a placebo? 2. Why do we use it in clinical trials? #OncSky #MedSky

Is PRRT safe in patients with NETs and extensive bone metastases…? Excellent presentation by Dr. Osama Mosalem at Mayo Florida @nanets.bsky.social 2024. Higher G3/G4 heme tox (29%), some persistent heme tox but no signal of increase in treatment related myeloid neoplasia. #NANETS24 #NETsSky #OncSky

Good morning, Chicago! Are you ready for day 2 of the @NANETS1 Annual Symposium? A day packed with exciting presentations ahead! #NANETS24 #NETsSky #OncSky

The ability to connect with the public and my colleagues in a non-toxic environment is why I'm a believer in #OncSky www.nature.com/articles/d41...

And it is on! @nanets.bsky.social - NANETS annual symposium has started. What better way to start than have a concurrent career development session and surgical therapy session. Looking forward to 3 exciting days of all things NETs and meeting friends. #NANETS24 #NETsSky

As we begin #NANETS2024 it may be a good time to review why the NETTER-2 study represents a promising advance in our understanding of NET tumor management. #oncsky www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...

A lot of folks are giving up in advance. Capitulating before a single skirmish. Well, not this old warrior. I’ve seen much worse from the U.S. government in my day. I’m concerned for our country, but not a bit scared of these miscreants. I’m ready to do my part. Who’s with me?

Right on time for #NANETS2024: the North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society is on @bsky.app ! Lots of posts to come from the NET community over the next three days during the Annual Symposium taking place in #Chicago. @oncothor.bsky.social @cancertrials.bsky.social @halletjulie.bsky.social

Arrived at Chicago for #NANETS. Looking forward to exchanging knowledge on cutting edge treatments for neuroendocrine tumors!

This is the Thanos plan.

Remember, if your tumor has a gene mutation, the specifics of that mutation are important! Ask your oncology team about that EGFR, KRAS or BRAF mutation, it may help them find clinical trials to treat your disease 🥳🥳

The CDC and WHO report a 20% increase in measles cases last year, driven by decreases in vaccination. This equated to 107,500 DEATHS, mostly in young children. This, in a PREVENTABLE disease. Can only imagine what that number will be if we get rid of all mandates.

What an achievement vaccines are. What a monument to our love for each other it is to stare straight into the face of something as horrific and unstoppable as smallpox or measles or polio or cervical cancer and say “You know what, it doesn’t have to be like this.” HUMANS!

The guy being nominated to oversee medical emergencies helped create one himself www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

RFK Jr’s nomination is the repudiation of a century of unprecedented and miraculous progress in public health. We take it for granted because we don’t recognize how far we’ve come. I recently wrote in @theatlantic about what we risk losing. Gift link 👇 www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

We are looking forward to generating some more education and advocacy regarding the role of clinical trials in general oncologic practice. What are some questions you, your loved ones, or your patients have had regarding clinical trials?

Time to venture back onto social media. For those who wandered into this post, I'm a GI Oncologist in the Twin Cities and a leader in our Clinical Trials program. If you're looking for a trial partner or want to learn more about trials, please reach out. #oncology #clinicaltrials #dohashtagswork
