So dick durbin is retiring and if i can get 5k reskeets @huma.bsky.social will run for his seat

Law school exams would prepare you so much better for practice if, just 20 minutes before the exam's end, the professor comes in and adds a fact pattern or confesses they lied about something or hid some unfavorable evidence. But now, they need you to incorporate it in your analysis too.

Two of Trump's weekend golf trips cost the same as this program. Two. He traded two golf weekends for multiple generations of women's health research.

Every time a small business dies from Trump tariffs, Jeff Bezos grows a hair back.

Alito, reading Green Eggs and Ham: "It's about Ecoterrorism in the agricultural industry."

There's something extra evil about people refusing to take vaccines but wanting to see newborn babies anyway. "I've weighed the risk to myself and the baby and found my ouchie arm worse than RSV, whooping cough, COVID, flu, measles to the baby." Guys, i'll fight your MAGA aunt for you.

Alito literally lived through the Civil Rights Era, and all he learned was that he's the victim.

Anyway, I guess I should probably be more blunt: I’m taking my knitting business full time this summer, and I’d love your support! If you have a knitter friend or you love cozy content, you’re welcome here (and I’m on IG and TikTok with the same user name, and I blog at abeeinthebonnet.com, too)

An appellate brief is never done. It's just due.

Crazy that lawyers leaking private litigation details about a case are held to a higher standard of confidentiality than the Secretary of Defense leaking literal war plans (twice) to a group of random people.

Don’t miss it! April 18–23, get 10% off when you buy 3 or more items at the ALA Graphics Gift Shop. Any combo counts—stock up while it lasts! bit.ly/graphics-gift-shop

I've never been invited to a Hegseth signal chat, and I'm starting to feel left out.

We libs really do be like "ooo Grand Moff Tarkin was evil" yet he literally reduced Alderaan's unemployment, homelessness, poverty, food insecurity, and disease rates to zero.

I hope Alito spends an enternity writing and a treatise about the difference between rights and privileges in a library with florescent lighting, a broken thermostat, and horribly wobbly desks. May his pen roll off the desk every fourteen minutes.

Alito and Thomas just can't stop being the worst justices on the Court.

Fun Appellate tidbits: The "tipsy coachman" doctrine allows an appellate court to affirm a trial court that 'reaches the right result, but for the wrong reasons' so long as 'there is any basis which would support the judgment in the record.'

New Trial Lawyer: "I should've asked a few weeks ago, but when does the time to file a Notice of appeal start to run?" Me, an Appellate Lawyer: *starts sweating aggressively*

"Yeah, but can an AI do this?" *Spills iced coffee all over my keyboard*

That "study" connecting the MMR vaccine to autism (Wakefield study) was funded by lawyers trying to win a case. As a lawyer, I think about that often.

Trump ran on protecting women from trans people. But protecting women against a real threat -- domestic violence? Nope. That's actually fine with them.

3L, in 2025: "I just got an offer from Paul Weiss. So prestigious! This will all blow over." 2045, now a lawyer: " . . . and then other lawyers greeted me with something between a sneer and a Kubrick stare for my entire career. I have no idea why . . ."

"You've been caffeine dependent since you started law school. Why don't you just go to therapy?" God forbid a girl support the entire Colombian coffee bean industry.

Me, a potential juror sitting in the courtroom in my bathing suit, holding a beach towel, and a unicorn-shaped pool floatie: "I was told there would be a pool."

If SCOTUS says factual innocence won't save you from the death penalty, then why would you ever think that SCOTUS would think it should save you from being sent to a foreign torture camp?

Qualified immunity has become a monster, slowly eating away at 8th amendment protections against cruel and unusual punishments.

Trump saying he wants to ship "criminals" to a foreign concentration camp really makes you think about how sitting in the front section of a bus made Rosa Parks a criminal. Voting made Susan B. Anthony a criminal. MLK was arrested 29 times. Muhammad Ali refusing the draft made him a criminal.

Don't blame me, the law made me crazy If it doesn't, you ain't doin' it right Lord, save me, formatting is my baby I'll be usin' [Word] for the rest of my life.

no, judge, you don't write so good. so we didn't understand what u said. that's ur bad. we forgive u if you let us kidnap more people

The DOJ "can" tell the truth, but it won't.

"Why do you like being an appellate lawyer?" Well, Ben, I would rather fight a woolly mammoth with a round brush and a toothpick than wear a suit more than once a year.

A client saying, "I wrote this brief through ChatGPT so you don't have to charge me and it . . ." is my lawyer villain origin story.

Sooo instead of tax breaks, just periodically tank the markets with tariffs, let your billionaire buddies buy up the fire sale stocks, and then snap the rubber band back up?

Maybe we should have a 300% tariff on podcast equipment.

New GOP flag: "Yaaas, Tread on Meeee"

It happened. My grandma called me "money hungry" because I work so much. Ma'am? That's your work ethic? It's literally the only thing I inherited.

“I choose courage.” Thank you @cohen489.bsky.social

Because of the times I'm starting a new career as a bridge troll asking riddles in exchange for passage, like: "Time leaves it untouched. The poor have it, and the rich need it. The Democrats will do it."

Any success America has had is a love letter to libraries. Where any poor kid could go and dream, learn, and explore the world for free. Libraries are a threat and a target now for that very reason.

NEW: ALA is going to court to stop the President’s attempts to illegally dismantle the Institute of Museum & Library Services. The President does not have the authority to destroy a federal agency. That's why we're taking action with our co-plaintiff @afscme.bsky.social. #ForOurLibraries (1/3)
